1 Corinthians 2:4 says ‘the kingdom of God is not in words, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power!’
DAILY READING – Luke 2:1-20; Ezekiel 37; Isaiah 60
Today, there is much argument about the actual location of the biblical ark of covenant.
While its whereabout remains uncertain, in Ethiopia, they have a long-standing religious legend that the ark was brought to Ethiopia 3,000 years ago.
According to the story, the Ark was taken out of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem during the reign of Manasseh and eventually taken to Ethiopia.
Many Ethiopians believe that this Ark of the Covenant is in the Church of Our Lady, Mary of Zion in the town of Aksum in the Tigray Region.
This Church is the most important Church in Ethiopia.
The ark is said to be guarded by a single monk, in a room where no one else enters. This monk must be a virgin and once anointed, this virgin monk is forbidden from stepping out of the premises until his death, when another monk will then take over.
However, many experts don’t believe what is in Ethiopia is the original ark, but rather a clever replica made some centuries ago. On the contrary many Ethiopians believe their nation has been appointed to be the custodian of the original ark of the covenant.
Perhaps, why there is much argument about the originality of the ark today is because it is all about stories and no manifestation of glory. During Old Testament times, there was never any contention about the originality of the ark. because the power of God surrounding it resulted in mighty signs and wonders.
Anytime the ark came into the battlefield, the Israelites would roar with joy and their enemies would tremble with fear.
In 1 Samuel 5, when the ark was captured by the Philistines, it became a terror in the land of the Philistines. When they put the ark in the house of their god dagon, the idols fell broken before the ark. And as the ark remained among them, the Philistines became so smitten with infirmities that they desperately sought to return the ark back to Israel. When David went out to receive the ark, as it stumbled and Uzzah put forth his hand, he was slain instantly. When David abandoned it in the house of Obed-edom, there was such great manifestation of blessings that David ran to retrieve the ark, and took it back to Jerusalem with celebration. Wherever the ark went, there were signs and wonders and the glory around it could not be hidden.
Likewise when we carry the ark of God’s Presence, there should be such mighty miracles and wonders that men should never be in doubt about the glory upon our lives.
Anywhere we step in carrying God’s presence, great doors will open before us, and no man will be able to withstand us or resist us.
As Christians our lives are meant to continually manifest God’s Presence and power.
1 Corinthians 2:4 says ‘the kingdom of God is not in words, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power!’
Indeed the undeniable manifestations of God’s power in our lives is what will convince people that we are indeed the sons of God and the carriers of His Presence in this generation.
PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for continually surrounding me with Your glory. Let Your power so rest upon my life that it will be clear to all that I am a carrier of Your Presence in this generation in Jesus’ Name.
