For many centuries a group of islands in the South Pacific Ocean remained unknown to the civilized world. In 1606, Spanish explorers discovered these islands and named them New Hebrides.
Pioneer missionaries who tried to bring the Gospel to these islands were endangered because of the forces of darkness that prevailed in the lives of the natives.
A Scottish missionary named John Gibson Paton who had studied theology and medicine at the University of Glasgow, felt led to serve in these islands. In 1858, he set sail to the New Hebrides islands to preach the Gospel. As he worked among the natives, many attempts were made to kill him, but he was able to survive through the power of Christ.
On one occasion when Paton was preaching in one of the villages, some sorcerers stood up and declared that they could kill him by witchcraft, if only they could get possession of any piece of fruit or food of which he had eaten. Being confident of God’s power, Paton took a bite out of some fruits and handed one to each of the men. The natives were astounded at his action. As the sorcerers proceeded with their incantations, the people immediately expected to see Paton fall over dead, yet nothing happened to him.
The sorcerers then boasted that they would gather all the other sorcerers on the islands together to invoke their powers to kill the missionary before the next Sunday service. Great excitement prevailed on the island and everyday people watched to see if the white man had died.
When Sunday morning arrived Paton appeared before the astonished people in sound health. He said to them “Now you must admit that your gods have no power over me and that I am protected by the true and living God. “
His testimony greatly convinced the people of the superiority of God’s power and brought many to salvation in Christ. For the many years that John Paton worked among the heathen tribes, God miraculously protected him from all danger.

By covenant, we are ordained to reign over the enemies of our destiny and triumph always.
One of the signs that follows those that believe is that they will drink deadly things, it shall not hurt them [Mark 16:17-18].
Through redemption and our new positioning in Christ, the Blood of Jesus has become our defense against the schemes and plots of the wicked. No matter how much they gather to fight against you, God has promised in Isaiah 54:15 that they shall all fall for your sake.
Surely no weapon formed against you shall prosper.
Through faith in the Word, we are to tread upon serpents and scorpions and over every power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt us.
In these last days, we are living in an era where every child of God needs to continually manifest the supernatural in order to survive. These are evil, climatic and perilous days and only the spiritually strong can thrive. To be victorious, we must be committed to building up our spiritual depth in Christ.
It is unto every man according to his faith. What you believe is what you will receive in life. Therefore our minds must be continually renewed through God’s word; for us to live in victory.
Through faith in the power of the Blood of Jesus, we are guaranteed deliverance and fortified against the enemies of our destiny.
Today, let us continually praise God because surely, this is our season to break every barrier and break forth to undeniable dimensions of success and limitless progress.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You because through the power in the Blood of Jesus, I am guaranteed divine protection against every enemy of my destiny. By Your grace I shall emerge victorious in every conflict in Jesus Name.
