Psalm 67:5-6 ‘Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.’

DAILY READING • Ephesians 5:21-33; Ezekiel 16; Isaiah 45

John Wesley was an English cleric, theologian, and evangelist who was a leader of a revival movement within the Church of England known as Methodism
During his student days at Oxford University, John Wesley was snobbish because of his good family background, intelligence and good looks.
One night, the 21 years old Wesley saw the school’s porter, whose job it was to carry people’s luggage. It was a cold night, but the porter was poorly clad in a threadbare coat. Wesley urged him to go home and wear a better coat. But the porter said
“This is the only coat I have, and I thank God for it.”
On further inquiry, Wesley found out that the man hardly had food to eat and had no bed to sleep on. Discovering that this man was so impoverished surprised Wesley because he knew this porter to be an unusually happy person who was always filled with gratitude to God.
Wesley was deeply moved and said to him, “You thank God when you have nothing to wear, nothing to eat, and no bed to lie on. What else do you thank God for?”
The simple man replied, “I thank God that he has given me life, a heart to love him, and a desire to serve him.”
After the man had left with a coat from Wesley’s closet, some money for food, Wesley wrote in his journal, “I shall never forget that porter. He convinced me there is something in religion to which I am a stranger.’
That night Wesley learned the true meaning of thankfulness and it was a lesson that humbled him.
Years later, in his ministry, John Wesley passed through very tough times but the lesson he had learned from the poor porter taught him to ever remain thankful and grateful to God throughout his lifetime.

The deepest level of worship is praising God in spite of pain, thanking God during a trial, surrendering to His will, even while suffering and trusting Him when you can’t seem to trace Him.
Praise means looking through the eyes of faith and judging God faithful and thanking Him in advance for our miracles.
Praise is a spiritual warfare strategy that miraculously changes our story. Rather than become negative or discouraged in the midst of difficulties, switch to praise and thank God that He’s still on throne, fighting your battles, and will cause you to triumph always.
Business may be slow, but still thank God for His promise to prosper you even in a desert. You may be challenged in your health, but thank God for being your Jehovah Rapha, “the Lord your healer”, who will bring health and cure to you.
When you praise God in adverse situations, He steps in and the greatness of His power shatters the plan of the enemies.
We must be determined to give God praise, not only on the mountaintops, but also in the valleys. While we are yet to see the results we desire, let us bless God for the greater blessings He has placed in our lives. We can never fathom the volume of angelic activities that constantly go on around us and our families. We can never know the number of hidden battles God daily fights for us. We can never tell the many deaths we could have died but His mercy constantly said ‘No!’
How then can we not be grateful?
Indeed it is only because of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed. If it had not been for the Lord on our side where would we be?
Lack of praise is a form of pride and expression of ingratitude. It is an anti-grace virus that causes a man to take God for granted and thus he becomes grounded.
But when we give God worthy praise, we experience blessings and divine increase.
Psalm 67:5-6 says ‘Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. ‘
Today, as we praise God, surely He will go before us to break the gates of brass, cut the bars asunder and open before us doors of blessings that no man can shut.

PRAYER: Lord, You are always good and faithful. I thank You for causing me to triumph over every adverse condition confronting me today and causing all things to work together for my good in Jesus Name.
