Brian Philip Welch is an American musician who is a founding member of the nu metal band ‘Korn’.
As a famous musician, Brian had money, houses, cars and was worshipped by his fans.
However, while he outwardly appeared successful, Brian’s life had become a nightmare as he was enslaved to drugs and couldn’t seem to function without getting high. At that time, Brian had a real estate broker who was a Christian. Without knowledge of the depth of Brian’s trauma, this man began to sense a leading to share a particular Scripture with him.
One day, this Estate broker said to Brian, “I felt this Scripture jump out at me. I’ve never done this before…but I felt like this would mean something to you.” The Scripture his real estate broker shared was Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
This word from his broker deeply touched Brian and prompted him to accept an invitation to go to church. At the Church, Brian was so impacted by the preaching that he accepted Jesus as his savour. That day Brian became liberated from his bondage to drugs.
Since then, Brian has been very vocal about his faith and has published several Christian books including his award-winning book ‘Washed in the Blood: Lessons from My Time with Korn and My Journey to Christ.’
We should always obey the prompting of the Spirit to share the Gospel. Oftentimes, we don’t know what people really go through behind the scenes. Though outwardly they may seem to have it all, inwardly their lives may be full of turmoil.
The truth is, no matter how rich or powerful anyone may seem, life will remain a struggle if Christ is not at the center of it all. Life without Christ will always end in crisis because by strength shall no man prevail.
God has designed us to triumph over life’s struggles only through the strength that Christ imparts. The apostle Paul went through shipwreck, beatings almost unto death, imprisonment and other terrible trials in his ministry and yet through Christ, he overcame all his trials.
No matter what trials, troubles or tribulations you may encounter, when you are born of God you will always overcome the world.
In John 16:33, Jesus said, “…in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Today, while there is much instability and bleakness in the world, those who know their God will keep doing exploits and flourishing even in hard times. As believers In Christ , we are destined to triumph always. Even in the midst of the gross darkness, our paths will only keep shining brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
PRAYER: Lord, please help me to preach Your Word in season and out of season. In this season I thank You for using me mightily and empowering me to do exploits for Your kingdom in Jesus Name.
