Charles H. Spurgeon, widely known as the “Prince of Preachers,” did not begin his life walking closely with God. Though raised in a Christian home, his early years were marked by resistance and indifference towards seeking God. He often ignored Scriptural guidance and pursued his own path, showing little interest in the things of God.
Yet, behind the scenes, God’s love was at work. His mother consistently lifted him up in prayer, trusting God to reach him despite his ways. Unknown to him, divine mercy was patiently drawing him toward a moment of transformation.
One snowy Sunday morning, at the age of sixteen, that moment came. Seeking shelter, he entered a small chapel where a simple message was being preached. Those few words pierced his heart, and in that instant, he surrendered his life to Christ.
From that day forward, his life took a different direction. The same young man who once resisted God became a powerful voice for the Gospel, touching millions across generations.
Jeremiah 31:3 reveals that God’s love for us is everlasting—it did not begin when we found Him; it has always been there. From the beginning, His love has been guiding, preserving, and drawing us closer to Him.
Romans 2:4 declares that “the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance.” It is not force, but God’s relentless love that eventually transformed us from darkness to light .Even when we were far from God, His mercy kept us. As Lamentations 3:22 says, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.”
Many times, we do not realize how much we have been preserved from destructive paths. His love has been working behind the scenes, ordering our steps and drawing us back whenever we drift.
God’s love is patient and enduring. 1 Corinthians 13:4 reminds us that “charity suffereth long, and is kind.” This is how God has dealt with us—with patience, kindness, and compassion through every season.
If this is how God has loved us, then this is how we must love others. We are called to extend grace, show understanding, and walk in kindness. We must learn to be patient with people, even when it is not deserved.
As we do, we become vessels through which God’s love reaches others and draws them to Himself. Today, as we walk in the love of Christ—patiently, kindly, and faithfully, certainly His blessings and divine rewards will overflow in every area of our lives.
PRAYER:
Lord, I thank You for loving me with an everlasting love. Help me to recognize Your hand in my life and to reflect that same love to others around me, in Jesus’ Name.
