Dr. Frederick T. Zugibe, a respected forensic pathologist and medical examiner, devoted years to studying the physical suffering of Jesus Christ during crucifixion. In his book Crucifixion of Jesus: A Forensic Inquiry, he presents detailed medical insights into what truly happened at the Cross.
According to his research, crucifixion was one of the most brutal forms of execution ever devised by the Romans. It was intentionally designed to prolong pain and maximize suffering. Victims were nailed through the wrists and feet, suspended in a way that made every breath agonizing. Each attempt to inhale required pushing against pierced limbs, sending waves of pain through the body.
Jesus endured all of this fully conscious. Though a mild anesthetic was offered, He refused it, choosing instead to experience the full weight of the suffering.
This was not forced upon Him—He willingly endured it. Every wound and every moment of agony was borne out of love. His sacrifice was deliberate—a complete giving of Himself so that humanity could be redeemed, restored, and brought into a new life with God.

Jesus did not only die to save us—He also revealed how we are to live. His life and sacrifice define a new way of living: a life rooted in love, sacrifice, and selflessness.
John 13:34–35 makes it clear that loving others as Christ loved us is the distinguishing mark of true discipleship. This kind of love goes beyond words or emotions—it is demonstrated through actions, sacrifice, and genuine concern for others.
The Cross is the ultimate picture of this love. Jesus gave everything so that we could gain everything. Now, we are called to reflect that same love in our daily lives.
Today, as we step into the month of April, we enter a season that symbolizes new beginnings. It is a time when new life emerges in nature as plants bloom and animals reproduce. Let this month also mark a fresh beginning in our own lives. Let it be a new opportunity to live from Christ’s perspective.
This is a call to rise above selfish living and embrace a life that blesses others. When we truly understand what Jesus did for us, it transforms how we treat people, how we forgive, and how we serve.
As we walk in His love, we reveal Christ to the world and step into the fullness of the life He paid for us to live.

PRAYER
Father, I thank You for bringing me into this new month. Please help me to live in the consciousness of the sacrifice of Jesus and empower me to love others sacrificially as Christ loved me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
