On May 18, 2011, Bishop Orrin Pullings was preaching in his church when he suddenly felt a sharp and severe pain in his head. Though he managed to finish his message, he collapsed shortly afterward and was rushed to the hospital.
Medical examination revealed a life-threatening condition—an intraventricular hemorrhage, a severe form of brain bleeding. Doctors explained that urgent intervention was required, but the risks were extremely high. They said the Bishop’s survival was uncertain, and even if he lived, there was a strong possibility of permanent brain damage.
From a medical standpoint, the situation offered little hope. However, his family, church members, and friends stood in the gap and prayed for a miracle. As intercession continued, with faith anchored in God’s Word, a shift began to take place. Against expectations, the Bishop’s body started responding positively to treatment. Gradually, his strength returned, and clarity was restored. His recovery progressed rapidly, astounding the medical team.
Exactly ten days later, Bishop Orrin fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital—walking, whole, and without any complications. Doctors described it as a miracle.
Isaiah 53:5 reveals the depth of Christ’s love for us. Jesus did not only die for our sins—He also paid for our healing. Every stripe He bore was a deliberate act of love, securing our freedom from sickness and affliction.
1 Peter 2:24 declares, “by whose stripes ye were healed,” confirming that our healing is not future—it has already been accomplished. Likewise, Matthew 8:17 says, “Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.” This reveals that Jesus already bore our infirmities as part of the finished work of the Cross. Because of His sacrifice, we are not helpless in the face of sickness, nor are we bound to affliction. We have a covenant of healing established through His Blood.
There may be moments when symptoms appear or circumstances seem overwhelming, but God’s Word remains the higher truth. Faith is anchored in what Christ has done, not in what we feel.
Therefore, let us refuse to allow affliction to arise a second time in our lives. The price has been paid by Christ’s love at the Cross, and by His stripes we are healed.
PRAYER:
