Edward Salazar Mauricio’s early life moved steadily toward destruction. After his parents separated, he began surviving on the streets of Mexico, selling small items to make money. In time he fell in with a violent gang and soon became deeply involved in drugs and crime.
His life spiraled further when a robbery he participated in ended in the death of another person. Arrested and convicted, Mauricio was sentenced to life in prison. Inside the prison walls, anger and bitterness hardened his heart. Whenever Christians tried to share the Gospel with him, he reacted violently and mocked their message.
Yet during periods of solitary confinement, prisoners were allowed only one book—the Bible. Out of boredom more than interest, Mauricio began reading it repeatedly. Slowly, the words he once despised began to penetrate his heart.
Years later, during a prison evangelistic meeting, he heard a preacher describe how Saul of Tarsus once persecuted Christians but later became the apostle Paul. The message pierced his conscience. That night Mauricio knelt beside his prison bed and cried out to God for mercy.
Soon afterward, his life changed dramatically. After years in prison he was unexpectedly granted parole. The former murderer eventually became a preacher of the Gospel, traveling to many nations to testify that the Word of God can transform any life.

The story of Mauricio demonstrates a powerful truth: the Word of God carries within it the power to break chains and bring deliverance. Darkness cannot resist the light of God’s Word.
John 1:4–5 declares that in Christ is life, and that life is the light of men. When this light enters any situation, darkness must give way.
Throughout Scripture we see this deliverance power of God’s Word. When Jesus spoke, demons fled, storms calmed, and broken lives were restored. The same living Word still carries that authority today. Whenever the Word of God enters a heart, it begins to dismantle strongholds, expose lies, and release people from spiritual captivity.
This means no situation is beyond the reach of God’s Word. Addiction, fear, oppression, guilt, and bondage cannot withstand its light. As we read, meditate on, and speak Scripture, the power within the Word begins to operate in our lives.
Therefore, never underestimate the power of engaging God’s Word. As we continue declaring it, believing it, and applying it, in due time its light will shatter every form of darkness and bring forth deliverance, restoration, and lasting transformation in every area of our lives.

PRAYER:
Lord, please enable me to meditate constantly on Your Word so that I may experience its deliverance power in every area of my life. I thank You for granting me the victory over every challenge I may face today in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
