Bishop Horace Strand is the founder of Faith Temple Church and author of the book ‘He’s a Prayer-Answering God’.
Bishop Horace has, lived a life that consistently demonstrated the power of prayer backed by deep devotion to God. Shortly after his marriage in 1975, his wife, Doreen, was diagnosed with cancer. Rather than accept the medical verdict, Horace withdrew with a fellow believer into fasting and fervent prayer. They clung to God’s Word, trusting in His healing power. Against all expectations, Doreen was completely healed. When she returned for medical reviews, doctors were so astonished that no medical bill was issued.
Their faith was tested again when their son was born mentally challenged. Refusing to accept this condition as final, Horace confronted the situation in prayer, rebuking the spirit behind it. The child was instantly delivered and went on to develop normally.
The most severe trial came when Horace was ambushed and shot in the face with a double-barrel shotgun. He was instantly blinded and bleeding profusely. Weak and unable to help himself, he cried out to God. At the same time, his wife and other believers mounted relentless spiritual warfare. Though doctors declared his case hopeless, God intervened. Horace made a full recovery, defying every medical prediction. His life remains a living testimony that prayer, sustained by devotion, secures undeniable victory.
Challenges are inevitable in life and we cannot choose the battles we may face. But one thing we can do is decide the outcomes.
The deciding factor is not strength, connections, or experience—it is closeness to Christ. Victory belongs to those who stay deeply devoted to God.. Romans 8:34 assures us that Christ is at the right hand of God, making intercession for us..Jesus did not only die and rise again; He now lives to intercede for us. Through His Blood, the verdict over our lives has already been settled in our favor. Yet this victory is most tangibly experienced by those who walk closely with Him.
Deep devotion keeps us protected under the covering of the Blood of Jesus. When we remain prayerful, yielded, and attentive to God, battles lose their power to overwhelm us. We may still feel the pressure, but we are never defeated.
The closer we stay to Christ, the stronger we stand in the face of adversity.
This year, do not measure success by the absence of trials, but by the assurance of triumph through a deep walk with Christ. Therefore keep the fire burning on your prayer altar. Stay sensitive to the Spirit and stay committed to study of the Word.
As long as we remain close to Christ, we are never fighting alone. By the Blood of Jesus, we will triumph over every enemy and emerge as more-than-conquerors in every confrontation.
PRAYER
Father, I thank You because by the Blood of Jesus I am an overcomer. As I serve You with devotion and engage earnestly in fervent prayers, let every opposition in my life be defeated. Surely in this season, I am emerging with a testimony of deliverance, restoration, and victory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
