Richard D. Mangone was a successful banker who experienced the tragic consequences of greed and self-indulgence.
In the early 1980s, his legitimate business ventures expanded rapidly, making him millions of dollars. But his insatiable desire for more drove him into fraudulent schemes. He co-founded a company that manipulated loans, which funded an extravagant lifestyle—luxury cars, a mansion, a private plane, and properties worth millions. Yet, even with all his wealth, Mangone was never satisfied.
By 1991, auditors uncovered his crimes. Facing conviction, he fled, becoming a fugitive on the Federal Most-Wanted list. Hunted and hopeless, he eventually reached the point of despair, planning to end his life. But in that darkest moment, God’s love broke through. While preparing to commit suicide, he stumbled upon a TV preacher speaking of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Overwhelmed, Mangone cried out to God for forgiveness and surrendered his life to Christ.
Soon after, he turned himself in to the police and was sentenced to 18 years in prison. Behind bars, he immersed himself in Scripture, ministering to fellow inmates. Upon his release in 2016, he founded Bezalel Prison Ministries, dedicated to bringing hope and restoration to the incarcerated.
No matter the temptations, we must guard against lowering our moral standards.
But even when we sometimes miss the mark, God is able to turn things around and make miracles out of our mistakes. We serve the God of second chances, who is able to re-paint our story on the canvas of His grace and glory.
Human greed, pride, or sin can strip a man of everything, but God’s love reaches deeper than our failures. Romans 5:8 assures us that even while we were lost in sin, Christ died for us. His love is not conditional on our goodness—it is unconditional, eternal, and transforming.
God’s love is not only a saving love but also a restoring love. It brings peace where there was turmoil, hope where there was despair, and purpose where there was brokenness.
With God, no mistake is final. His arms remain open, drawing you into a life of victory, peace, and fulfillment.
The door of destiny is only shut against those who refuse to embrace God’s love and rise from their ashes.
As we make a fresh commitment to walk in His love and obey His Word doors of opportunity will open to us and usher into greater levels of glory and overflowing blessings.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to always walk in Your love and obey Your Word in all my dealings. As I do, I thank You for connecting me to my next level and taking me to greater heights of glory and victory in Jesus Name.
