It was an ordinary Monday morning on August 26, 2002, but God had already gone ahead of time. During their family devotion that day, the Holy Spirit dropped a verse into the heart of Dr. Philip Lyn, pastor of Skyline SIB Church in Malaysia: “I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord.” He couldn’t have known how crucial that Word would be in just a few hours.
Later that same day, his 4-year-old daughter suffered a domestic accident when she fell from a stool, got tangled in a clothesline, and was strangled by the rope. When they found her, there was no pulse, no breath, no heartbeat. She was clinically dead.
But even in their panic and pain, the Word from the morning devotion rang loud in their hearts: “I shall not die but live…” Dr. Lyn and his wife clung to that Word like a lifeline. After relentless resuscitation, their daughter gasped and began to breathe—though she slipped into a coma.
The hospital gave no hope, but God did. That night, Dr. Lyn had a prophetic dream—his daughter would awaken and count her fingers. And by morning, that’s exactly what happened. She woke up completely healed, counting her fingers out loud, fulfilling the Word of the Lord. Their household broke out in praise, overwhelmed by the mercy and power of God.

To walk in the fear of the Lord means honoring His Word above circumstances, listening for His voice in every moment, and trusting Him completely even if chaos strikes. Your honor of God shows when you believe Him more than your doctor’s report, more than the facts staring you down.
As you trust in Him, God guides you with precision. He prepares you before battles even begin. Like Dr. Lyn, you may receive a Word long before the trial comes—as you hold it in faith, that Word will become your weapon of deliverance.
Let today remind you that to walk in the fear of God is to walk in the safest path on earth. It invites the Spirit’s promptings, warnings, and rescues you from trials and troubles.
Certainly, as you continue to fear God and reverence His Word, He will work in every situation to ensure that you shall not die, but live to declare His works and glory in the land of the living.

PRAYER
Father, I thank You for the fear of the Lord which anchors my heart to trust You. Today I receive grace to listen when You speak, and to act swiftly on Your Word. By Your grace I shall live to always declare Your mighty works in Jesus’ name!
