Jackie Joyner-Kersee is a multitalented athlete whose astounding achievements made her to be voted the Greatest Female Athlete of the 20th Century by Sports Illustrated for Women.
Jackie is the first American ever to win a gold medal in the long jump and the first woman in history to earn more than 7,000 points in the seven-event heptathlon.
However, it is interesting to note that when she first started out in sports, her performance was very poor and she used to finish last in a race.
She was greatly encouraged by her mother to trust in God and keep aiming for the best. And so instead of giving up due to her poor performances she decided to improve on herself and began to practice every day. But things only got worse when in 1983 she began to suffer devastating health challenges. Things were so bad that some days it looked like she wouldn’t be able to make it through a race. Yet her faith in God sustained her and helped her to eventually overcome.
Five years later, with improved health, at the 1988 Olympics, Joyner-Kersee won three gold medals. And she would go on to win many more Olympic medals and setting unbroken world records in the process.
Joyner-Kersee, who is an ardent Christian and whose husband is a pastor, believes that the secret of her success has been faith in God. Through steadfast faith she overcame the barriers of resistance to become a celebrated athletic hero.

Every one’s journey from the point of zero to hero is a difficult one. To see glory at the end of our story we need to persevere in faith.
As far as destiny is concerned, it is to everyone according to his faith. Through faith we are able to see the invisible, dare the impossible, and do the incredible.
Faith is the victory that overcomes the world [1 John 5:4].
Every time you encounter an obstacle on the journey to your promised land, refuse to complain, murmur, or become intimidated. When you see a “Red Sea” situation in your life don’t turn to go back, just re-echo what the Lord told Moses to tell His people in Exodus 14:15b, “Go forward!”
As you take the next step of faith, what you saw as “Red Sea” is going to part in two, allowing you to walk through on dry ground to the other side.
Faith involves hard work in the Word of God. It means spending quality time with the Word. The Word of God says, “study to show thy self approved” (2 Timothy 2:15).
The Greek word from which the English word “study” was translated in 2 Timothy 2:15, infers hard work and discipline!
When you are faced with any intimidating challenges always remember that solution is available through faith. If you are facing an overwhelming situation in your health, finances, or relationships, settle down to in-depth study of the Word. As you do, you will have the faith to overcome and eventually see the manifestation of glory in that situation.

PRAYER: Lord, Please help me to pay the price of spending quality time in Your Word so that my faith can be strengthened to see You at work in my situation. I Thank You Lord for always exceeding my expectations and manifesting Your glory in my life in Jesus Name.
