At age 31, Steve Olin started his own electronics business and saw God’s blessings as his business quickly grew. In eight years, he did $2 billion in sales, and his public company was valued at $6 billion. He had millions of dollars in the bank, a penthouse in New York, a penthouse in Miami, a 15-acre weekend estate in Connecticut. His wife and child lived the good life with him.
He was celebrated by the media as the boy genius in business and many magazines reported his story.
However as he was growing financially, Steve made no effort to grow spiritually. Then one day out of the blue, panic attacks suddenly began to hit him.
Doctors had no answer to his condition. As he sought solutions, a business friend introduced him to cocaine. That marked the beginning of his downfall. He soon became addicted to cocaine, started partying heavily and womanized. This lifestyle affected his work and before long he was making bad investment decisions. Within ten years he lost everything. Nobody wanted to do business with him because of his reputation of being a drug addict.
From having millions in the bank, he could no longer pay house rent. One day when he was two weeks away from being homeless, at 3:00 a.m., he fell on the floor and cried out to God and fully surrendered his life to Christ. He went to bed that night and for the first time in 10 years, he slept like a baby. Few days later, a man called him from nowhere, offered him a $500,000 salary and multi-million dollar contract in the steel industry. From then, God turned around Steve’s situation and he rose again until he gradually regained financial stability.
Science teaches us that the higher up you go, the faster the air flows and the stronger the winds blow.
So it is in life. The higher you rise on the success ladder, the stronger the forces that will blow against you.
The depth of your foundation in God is what ensures your survival and progress.
Life is full of storms, troubles, challenges that can come unexpectedly. Therefore when God is blessing you and lifting you, it makes sense to draw closer to Him so that your blessings can be preserved.
No matter, how high a man rises in life, he can easily fall, if there is no spiritual strength in him to resist the attacks of the enemy. Truly, we need a strong anchor in God if we want to go far in life. A man could spend years working hard and amassing wealth, only to suddenly lose everything.
Proverbs 11:28 says ‘he that trusteth in his riches shall fall’.
It takes banking on God’s grace not to go bankrupt in life.
Anytime you find yourself in a financial storm, health storm or any other storm, first ensure your anchor is strong in Christ. If your heart feels overwhelmed, run to the Rock of ages, Who is our shelter and strong tower from the enemy.’[Psalms 61:2-4].
When you have God on your side, you can be sure of victory every time. Therefore, as we prepare to break forth to greater heights, let us also go deeper in our relationship with God so that in the face of any storm,, we shall never fall.
PRAYER; Lord please help me to build my life on the strong spiritual foundation of Your Word.. By Your grace I will continue to break forth to greater heights of exploits and never fall in Jesus Name
