Hebrews 8:6 ‘But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.’
DAILY READING; Matthew 15:21-39; Leviticus 26-27; Ecclesiastes 1:12-2:26
Minnie Kennedy was an orphan who served God with great zeal in the Salvation Army. Minnie wanted to be a missionary but that vision was put on hold when she got married at only 15 years of age to a man 35 years her senior. The marriage produced a daughter named Aimee whom Minnie dedicated to God, asking Him to use her greatly in His Kingdom.
When Aimee grew up, at 17 years of age, she met and married a young Scottish evangelist named Robert Semple and two of them went to serve as missionaries in China.
But while in China, Aimee had the horrible experience of losing her husband, while still pregnant with their first child.
As a result of what happened, after her return back to the U.S, Aimee became disillusioned and abandoned her ministry.
Later, Aimee remarried and tried hard to ignore the call of God upon her life. However, in 1913; at 23 years old, she became seriously ill and was rushed to the hospital where the doctors gave her up to die.
But while at the point of death, Aimee heard a Heavenly asking her: ”Now will you go?” She understood it to be God asking her to choose between going into eternity or going into ministry. At that point she yielded to fully serve God in the ministry. As soon as she made the choice, instantly, her pain was gone, her breathing eased, and she soon regained her strength.
As Aimee began again to preach the Gospel, within a decade, she became a phenomenon. She founded the Foursquare Gospel Church which stills exists today and is considered as one of the greatest female evangelists ever used by God.
From birth a covenant began to speak over Aimee’s life when her mother dedicated her to God. Trying to walk outside the covenant only exposed her to the enemy’s attack, but her choice to return to serving God brought divine rescue.
Through redemption we have been dedicated to God for service in His house. We are bound under a powerful new covenant sealed by the Blood of Jesus.
In the Old Testament the Israelites walked in blessings when they kept the covenant sealed by the blood of animals. But in the New Testament we have even better promises of blessings under the new covenant sealed by the precious Blood of Jesus.
Hebrews 8:6 says that Christ is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
And as long as we abide by this covenant we would enjoy healing, deliverance, protection, provision, victory and power over all works of darkness.
If things seem not to be working, then you need to check your covenant walk. A Christian only becomes defeated when he walks in disobedience to God’s Word. Your experience in life is not about your circumstances, it is basically about your covenant positioning.
It is when we serve God that He blesses our bread and water and takes away sicknesses from us. (Exodus 23:25)
Today let us receive the grace to always abide in God’s will and answer His divine call upon our lives.
As we do, surely we shall enjoy all the redemptive benefit Christ died to purchase for us at the Cross.
PRAYER
Father, I come before You today to receive the grace to serve You. Please help me to do what is spiritually required of me in order to see Your glory manifested fully in my life throughout this year in Jesus’ Name
