1 Corinthians 1:27–31 ‘ but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,.’

DAILY READING; 2 Peter 2; Jeremiah 43-44; Psalm 140

At an altitude of 2,790 feet, Safed is Israel’s highest town and probably its coldest. Safed is important to the Jews because it was where one of their most amazing victories was recorded during the Independence War in 1948.
In that war, the Israeli forces were outnumbered and outgunned, by the heavily armed Arab troops who held the strategic high points of the city.
Since Israel grossly lacked weapons, Jewish scientists had resorted to producing homemade weapons to aid in the war. In late April 1948, they delivered an artillery piece which was a mortar canon, to the Jewish army. However this canon was found to be very ineffective, its most notable feature was the tremendous noise it produced.
This canon was nicknamed ‘little David’ since it was insignificant against the goliath of the greater Arab army.
On the night of 9th -10th May 1948, during a fierce battle, Jewish soldiers were quite frustrated by the poor performance and ineffectiveness of the canon. But as they contemplated defeat, what they did not know was that the noise of the canon had created fear in the Arab fighters who believed it was a new secret weapon of the Jews. A rumor quickly spread through the Arab ranks that the Jews had acquired an atom bomb. This rumour made the entire Arab community to flee that night. With their exit, Israeli soldiers then easily went in and took the city, without further battle.

In Joshua 24, the Israelites were up against seven nations that were bigger and stronger than them. These nations had more equipment and more training. The Israelites didn’t stand a chance against them. To get rid of these seven powerful nations God sent insects against them and they were driven out.
Insects may have seemed small and insignificant, but when driven by the wind of the Spirit, they became a mighty force that drove out seven nations. Certainly, God knows how to use the weak things to confound the wise.
In 2 kings 7, God amplified the footsteps of the four lepers such that the Syrian army became afraid. 2 Kings 7:6-7 says ‘For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host:’ and because of the noise they heard, the Syrian army arose and left their tents, and fled for their lives.
Certainly, God can use what is considered insignificant and ineffective to accomplish great victories for us.
Just as Jesus blessed God and five loaves and two fishes fed multitudes, as we praise God for the little that we have, surely, He will multiply it to accomplish great things and turn adversities into greater advantages for us.

PRAYER; Lord, please help me to always maintain my joy and praise You in every circumstance for certainly I know You are divinely turning around every disadvantage to my advantage today in Jesus Name.
