Hebrews 11:33-34 ‘Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword…’
DAILY READING – • Revelation 18; Isaiah 3-4; Psalm 109:1-19
Just like the story of Daniel in the lions’ den, an Egyptian law student, Majed El Shafie, who converted to Christianity, was miraculously unharmed by ferocious attack dogs unleashed on him to kill him.
Majed El Shafie found himself in prison after he converted from Islam to Christianity, founded a pro-Christian legal aid organisation with thousands of members, and wrote a book to help fellow Christians.
He had become converted after a friend introduced him to the Bible which he read for a year and became convinced to accept Christ as his savior.
Due to his decision to become a Christian, he was barred from practicing law, lost his standing in the community and faced rejection from his own family.
Though he came from an influential family in Cairo comprising of lawyers and Supreme Court justices, none came to his rescue as he was thrown into prison for his newfound faith.
In his prison cell, the jailers let loose on him three snarling dogs, but the dogs just sat around him, refusing to attack him. The guards brought in another set of dogs, which did the same thing as the first set of dogs.
The guards were amazed and said it was a miracle. Thereafter, they offered him anything he wanted –wealth, houses, wives- if he would only give up his faith. But he refused. He was subsequently tried and sentenced to death. But with the help of friends, he made a daring escape from the prison. Made his way to Israel and was later granted political asylum in Canada and eventually became a Canadian citizen.
He has continued his humanitarian work which has gained international recognition.
To be a Christian in this endtimes and boldly stand for what you believe will attract attacks. The truth is that everyone’s faith will be tested one way or the other. The question is; will your faith stand under fire?
When men are brought under fire what is in them really shows up. But those who truly know their God will always say to Nebuchadnezzar ‘we will not bow’.
When Daniel refused to give up praying to God, he was thrown into the lion’s den. But God arose for his deliverance and sent an angel to shut the mouths of the lions from harming him. Indeed when you refuse to bow to the enemy, God will always arise for your help.
Psalm 46:1-2 says, ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.’
Through shedding His Blood at Calvary, Christ has given us the power to overcome every opposition.
It doesn’t matter what it is you are confronted with, through Christ you are always guaranteed the victory.
1 Corinthians 15:57 says ‘But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.’
The victory that overcomes the world is the faith within us. Indeed we will always overcome trials and opposition, through unshakeable faith in Christ built from quality time spent in His Word. When our foundation is strong in God, we will never be moved.
When you have a consistent prayer and study life, there will be hidden strength in you. This is what helps you not to be defeated in the face of temptations or troubles.
Anytime, you are confronted, the faith embedded in you will show up, and this is what manifests as miracles of deliverance. Hebrews 11:33-38 says ‘Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.’
Daniel’s faith in God was what secured his deliverance from the lion’s den. Indeed through faith in God, no weapon fashioned against us shall ever prosper.
We must therefore be prepared to overcome the peculiar challenges of these perilous times, by maintaining a spiritually fervent lifestyle of diligent study of the Bible, worship and prayers. As we do this we are building up strength that will show up for us whenever opposition arises.
Certainly, though faith in God’s Word and by the power in the Blood of Jesus, we will always emerge victorious over trials and oppositions.
PRAYER: Lord, please help me to be always spiritually prepared through spending time in Your Word and fervent prayers.i I thank You for always granting me victory by the Blood in Jesus Name.
