Hebrews 4:12 ‘For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.’

The Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit is a collection of sermons by the famous 19th century preacher, Charles Spurgeon. One of the most remarkable illustrations in this volume, is the story of Mr. Thorpe, a pastor who came to salvation in Christ in a most unusual way.
In the 18th century, Mr. Thorpe lived in Bristol, England, and was a part of a band of men who called themselves, the ‘Hell Fire Club.’ The reason for the club’s existence was to mock and ridicule the work of the famed evangelist, George Whitefield. On one occasion, the ‘Hell-Fire Club’ gathered at a pub for such mockery. Mr. Thorpe offered an imitation of Whitefield, and delivered his sermon with brilliant accuracy, perfectly imitating his tone and facial expressions as he quoted Scriptures. But suddenly amidst the laughter something strange happened. It seemed as if the power of God gripped Mr. Thorpe as the Scriptures he had been quoting in mockery suddenly pricked his conscience. The words he had been speaking seemed to pierce his soul and grip him with a new understanding. He sat down and began to think of the state of his own soul and inexplicably became converted on the spot.
From there, Mr. Thorpe began to seek to know more of God’s Word. His life became totally transformed and he would go on to become a prominent Christian leader in the city of Bristol.
It is indeed amazing the transformation that God’s Word can accomplish. The Word of God arrested Mr. Thorpe in a way and manner that could not be explained humanly. When his conscience could not prick him, and the words of other men seemed to have no impact, the Word of God broke through and brought him to repentance.
Certainly, no heart is too tough and no soul is too dark for God’s Word to penetrate. When God wills it, His Word can pierce anyone and reach into the innermost recesses of any heart, at any time!
Indeed, the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword (Hebrews 4:12.)
God’s Word is alive, quick and sharp and can cut through any hard situation. It touches where nothing else can touch and brings life and alters circumstances.
Most problems, sicknesses and afflictions have deep spiritual roots that defy physical solutions . Only God’s Word has the capacity to go deep enough to totally destroy their evil roots.
The word of God, spoken in faith has awesome power to uproot and destroy insurmountable obstacles.
The Word of God can destroy stagnation, sickness and the anti-covenant afflictions that fight believers’ destinies
God’s Word contains life-quickening genes and is powerful enough to transform any condition.
In John 6:63 Jesus says ‘The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.’
Truly, the Word of God is active, powerful, dynamic and full of energy. Whenever God’s Word is released, situations change and miracles take place. During His ministry on earth, Jesus spoke words that raised the dead, healed the sick, stopped the storm, and transformed situations and lives.
Likewise, as we release the Word in faith over any negative situation in our lives, we will see signs and wonders occur. Faith in God’s Word will take us from sickness to health, from poverty to prosperity, from sorrow to joy.
The Word cannot be resisted, rather it dominates over negative conditions until it accomplishes God’s will.
God says His Word shall not return to Him empty, it shall succeed in the thing for which He sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).
Today, if there is any area where you need a change of story, then it is time to apply the Word in faith. As you speak to that mountain of sickness, financial challenge, family crisis etc, you will suddenly begin to see changes.
Certainly, there is nothing too hard for the Word to do.
Everything God can do, His Word can do, because He and His Word are One.
PRAYER; Lord, please help me to speak boldly in faith against the things fighting my destiny. I thank You Lord for always causing me to triumph through the amazing power of Your Word in Jesus Name.
