2 Chronicles 20:17 KJV

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

The Yom Kippur War in 1973 would have been Israel’s deadliest war. The whole country could suddenly have been wiped out in a surprise attack by its enemies, if not for divine intervention. Unbeknown to Israel, Egypt and Syria had secretly perfected a plan to strike Israel during the celebration Yom Kippur, Israel’s holiest day. At this time, Israel was not at all prepared for war, but less than 24 hours before the planned attack, the chief of Israel’s secret police MOSSAD, got an urgent call for a secret meeting. Meeting him was a very unlikely candidate, someone from the enemy’s camp. It was Ashraf Marwan, the son-in-law of Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser who worked at the president’s office and had access to the deepest secrets of the country’s government. He had just stumbled on the very closely guarded plan to attack Israel and came to warn Israel of the impending destruction.

This information threw the Israeli military into pandemonium, they had less than 24 hours to prepare for war! but they utilized well the little time they had, so that when the strike came on 6th October, though Israel suffered initial defeat, they were  able to rebound back and secure a final victory in the war. The information given by Marwan had saved Israel from what would have been a devastating destruction.

Question however is: why would such a highly placed Arab official, and son-in-law to the Egyptian president, sell his country’s secret to their sworn enemy, Israel? The answer can only be God’s mercy. God is not limited in how He will save. He can save by few or many. When a man’s way pleases the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. God used an unimaginable source to avert disaster for His people.

God can use your enemies to favor you. Do not limit how God can fight for you. He can raise help for you from strange quarters. He can use the unexpected, the unimagined.

As long as you concern yourself with doing His will, God has assured that you don’t need to bother about the opposition. He will take care of them. He says in Isaiah 54 that whosoever gathers against you shall fall for your sake. He goes on to say that it is your heritage as a servant of the Lord. So, divine protection is the portion of the servants of the Lord. In 2 Chronicles 20, He made the enemies of King Jehoshaphat to begin to fight amongst themselves. So there is no constraint to how God can save. Just concern yourself with staying in His will and He will concern Himself with taking care of all that concerns you, including your enemies.

PRAYER; Lord  help me to serve You better; help me to hide deeper in You, knowing You are able to take care of whatever comes my way, including those that rise up against me.
