JANUARY 12 : YOUR EXPECTATIONS SHALL NOT BE CUT SHORT

Proverbs 23:18

For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

DAILY READING  1 Corinthians 1:18-31; 1 Kings 14; Joel 2:1-11

On a snowy Christmas Day in 1987, Gospel singer, Delia Knox, was involved in a life-threatening accident.  Delia was in a car with her sister and brother-in-law when they were hit by a drunk driver.

Although the others escaped with minor injuries, the crash left Delia paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors told her she would likely be confined to a wheelchair the rest of her life. But  Delia believed God would heal her. And despite the paralysis, she was determined to live her life.  An accomplished gospel singer,  she continued her work in music ministry, and would push herself everywhere in her wheelchair.

She later met and married Bishop Levy Knox, who became a major source of inspiration for her. Often he would support her infront of the mirror and ask her to imagine herself standing.

By 2010 Delia had been in a wheelchair for over 22 years. Yet, she still had not lost hope. Then in August of 2010, she and her husband were attending a conference when a Pastor started praying for her. And for the first time in 22 ½ years,  she had feelings in her legs.

She felt the power of God  come all over her. And with the assistance of her husband, Delia slowly rose, and was able to take a few steps.  As the congregation sang and prayed, Delia stunned the crowd as she started walking around the church.  After believing for so long, finally, she was beholding the manifestation of God’s promises being fulfilled right before her eyes. She was walking!  It was indeed a phenomenal and life-changing experience.  And she has been walking ever since, and today leads worship at Living Word Christian Church in Mobile, Alabama, where her husband is the pastor.

Proverbs 23:18 says “For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.”

One key factor for the miraculous is expectation.  The force of expectation is a very powerful force. It is a supernatural force that draws whatever you are expecting towards you. Indeed expectation is the mother of manifestation. Against all hope, Delia believed she would walk, and  finally she did.

God has promised to grant our expectations.  But the question is what are you really expecting from God? Do you believe God to do what He has said He will do in your life? Every man sets the stage for his own miracle. What you expect is what you will get.

God is able to do what He said He will do.  And no matter the situation, God is always faithful to His Word.

Though weeping may endure for the night, surely joy will come in the morning.

And no matter how dark the night, the day will certainly break.

Maybe like Dalia, you have been believing God for a miracle for so long, don’t give up hope yet. Your day is coming. Your  expectation will not be cut off.

See with your eyes of faith. See into the plans of God for your life, and be assured that the best is still ahead.  It is indeed your year of eagle’s flight, therefore expect to scale new and unprecedented heights. Determine this year’s prophesy must have full expression in your life. Believe God for greater things.

Learn to always judge God faithful. Delays are not denials. As you keep looking unto God, believing His Word, you will never be ashamed.

Psalm 34:5 says “They looked unto him and were lightened and their faces were not ashamed.”

As long as you put  your  trust in The Lord, you shall never be ashamed. Jehovah alone has the final say over your life. Sickness, disease, poverty or lack cannot have the final say over you. No enemy can have the final say over you. Only God’s will and purpose concerning you  shall stand.

Proverbs 19:21 says ‘there are many plans in a man’s heart , nevertheless the Lord’s counsel – that will stand.’

Therefore begin to claim God’s counsel over your life. Feed on The Word so that your faith can be built up for great expectations.   God is not man that He should lie, neither the son of man that He should repent. Has He said it? Then He will surely do it for you.  And whatever  you are expecting will surely come to pass in Jesus Name.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to keep my focus on You at all times. I know indeed that my expectations for a glorious Eagle’s flight this year shall surely come to pass, in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 11 : GOD’S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT

Psalm 37:23-24

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand”

Until 1996, the US Women’s Olympic Gymnastics Team had never won a gold medal. It seemed they were always coming behind other countries. But at the 1996 Olympics, they were determined this time to win a gold medal. The team was made up of seven women, who came to be known as ‘the magnificent 7’.

Kerri Strug ,18 years of age, was the anchor on this Gymnastics Team. At the final competition they were up against the Russian team, and it looked like the Russians were going to cart away the gold. Though the US team had started well, one of the team members had performed poorly thereby giving the Russians a chance.

Then finally, it was time for the last performance from the US team. This would be the deciding factor if the US won the gold or not. This last performance was to be taken by the team’s best vaulter, Kerri. The gold medal now depended on her performance. Spectators held their breath as she began sprinting down the runway; She hit the vault, flipped in the air, but only to come crashing down in a fall.  It was a disappointing performance. Her score was not enough to tip the scale in her team’s favor. But worse yet, she had injured her left ankle when she landed. Now unable to walk properly she was hobbling. Yet, she still had one more performance before the final score by the judges. Many people wondered if she would be able to perform that last vault.

As she sat on the edge of the mat with an ice pack on her ankle, it looked impossible that she could make another try. But to everyone’s surprise, she got up and  hobbled to the judges, acknowledging that she was ready to take her last vault.

Her ankle and her head were  throbbing, but she took a deep breath and said a prayer, “Please God help me make this vault.” Temporarily pushing her  pain aside, Kerri once again began her sprint down the runway; she hit the vault, twisted in the air and made her landing without falling. She stood just long enough for it to be scored.

As the score flashed on the large board, the crowd inside the Georgia Dome erupted with joy; the Americans went wild with jubilation. She had hit a high score. And the score had given the American team the desired victory. It seemed the entire nation rose to their feet on that day. Despite her initial failure, Kerri had endured the excruciating pain of an injured ankle, to achieve an amazing performance. It would become one of the greatest Olympic moments of all time!

After the score was posted, Kerri fell to the mat holding her left ankle, her face grimacing with pain. In her second landing, she had torn two ligaments in her left ankle and was now unable to walk off the mat on her own. She had to be carried and supported.

However, her heroic effort had ensured that the American Woman’s Gymnastic Team won their first team gold medal ever. Kerri’s fall on the first vault, though it was important, was not the story. It was how Kerri Strug got up after the fall that made this event one of the most significant in U.S. woman’s gymnastics.

Proverbs 24:16 says ‘for the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.’

Often times in the journey of life we may fall at some point. Being righteous does not mean absence of failure or trials in one’s life. The righteous may fall, but he gets back up again, he doesn’t stay down, he rises. Failure, in some sense, is inevitable. It’s how you react to it that matters.

As we journey through life, we may at some points do things we are not proud of. We may make mistakes we wish we never made. But what matters is not that we fall, but how we react to the fall. We can bounce back up and fight through the pain like Kerri or we can choose to lie on the floor and wallow in our pain. We must understand that failure is not equal to defeat. Every man fails, but not all accept defeat. Therefore don’t allow your failure to graduate to defeat. Arise and try to fight again. Never fold your hands if you don’t want life to fold up on you. No matter where you may have fallen, get up and keep moving forward.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. The worst failure of life is failure to try. Those who try again will triumph again. We can take advantage of our failure by learning from what we have done wrong. If we failed through sin, then we need to, repent, and lay hold of God’s forgiveness. We need not drown in guilt or become blinded to God’s mercy. We can always swim back to shore, helped by the incoming tide of God’s grace. Morally speaking, no one has a perfect score. Everyone, even Peter the Apostle at some time failed the Master.

But thank God, we serve the God of a second chance, He is the God who prefers to mend rather than discard. God is a potter who works with mud and is able to take that which is marred and remake it into a thing of beauty again. God loves to restore the broken and brittle and then parade them before the world as trophies of His grace.

We are all products of His grace. Apostle Paul said ‘I am what I am by the grace of God’. When we are weak, He remains strong. And it is by His grace that the race is made great.

God’s commitment in Christ is to mend, heal  and help us along the way, as we travel on this journey of life.

Psalm 37:23-24 says

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand”

God upholds us by His mercy.  He is able to restore us if we miss the way. He is able to keep us strong against the storms of life. Therefore as we run this race, let us keep looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. Let us not rely on our own strength, but rather on God’s grace. Let us learn always to come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

PRAYER: Father please enable me to always rely on Your grace and mercy. Please help me to keep moving forward no matter what trials and temptations may come my way. May Your grace always be sufficient for me in  Jesus Name.

January 10  : GOD’S AWESOME DELIVERANCE

Psalm 40:1-2

‘I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.DAILY READING  1 Corinthians 10; 2 Kings 3; Amos 8

On August 5th 2010, 33 miners were trapped in a mine 2,300 feet underground. The disaster occurred at a mine in Chile’s Atacama Desert. These miners were working deep inside a mountain, excavating for copper, gold and other minerals, when they started feeling vibrations. Suddenly, there was a massive explosion and the passageways of the mine filled up with dust. When the dust settled, the men discovered the source of the explosion:  A single huge block of stone, as tall as a forty-five-story building, had broken off from the rest of the mountain and fallen. This caused a chain reaction that led to the mountain above collapsing and blocking every exit out of the mine.

After assessing the damage, the miners found they were totally trapped with no way of escape. It was then they realized that only God could save them. One of the miners, Jose Henriquez, was a strong believer, who has been a Christian for over 30 years. He rallied the other miners and they began to pray to God. Above on the ground, emergency officials were unable to know the fate of these miners.  And for over two weeks no one knew if they were dead or alive. The miners were able to survive for the first few weeks, on small amounts of tuna and mackerel that were in the shelter, along with water.

However 17 days after, a probe was lowered by engineers into the mine. And what a delight when the probe came up with a note tied to it, written in red ink by the miners saying, “We are fine in the shelter, the 33 of us.”

It was indeed a joyous moment, especially for family members of these miners.

Eventually the authorities found a way to send food and water down to them.

The miners began a practice that lasted 69 days — holding a prayer service every day at noon and 6 p.m. For them prayer became important and they  felt God’s presence with them. For 69 days, the best engineers around the world battled to find a way to free these miners. The accident received worldwide notice, as over 1 billion people  around the world watched what looked like an impossible rescue operation unfold on live TV.  The miners remained confident that God would save them.  And He did! Eventually a hole was drilled into the mountain, through which a capsule was lowered to bring up these men. When the time came for their rescue, the men came together and prayed, thanking God for saving their lives. And they greatly rejoiced and praised God together when all 33 of them finally made their way above ground again, all safe and sound.

Zechariah 9:11 says  ‘As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.’

The God who delivered these men is still available to deliver anyone who calls upon Him.

Indeed there is no pit so deep that God cannot deliver us from. It is God’s will for us to come out of every pit, captivity and imprisonment. Jesus has paid the ultimate price for our freedom. When Jesus died on Calvary He descended into the dungeon of death so that we can be set free. According to Mathew 27 after His death, the earth quaked, the rocks rent, the graves were opened, and the saints who had been buried came out!

Through shedding His blood on the cross, prisoners were delivered out of the pit of hell. And as a child of God, by the same shed blood of Christ, you are set free. Salvation is, being rescued from the pit! Which means you are no longer to be pitied! People only pity men in a pit.

Therefore you have no business being in any grave. Jesus has secured your rescue. Your freedom is total!

We have been raised together with Christ, who is the Head of all principality and power. Therefore nothing can hold us down any longer.

Jesus has declared, ‘All power in heaven and in earth is given unto me.” No one can challenge His orders. No devil can stop you once you’re set free. Because whosoever the son of God has set free is free indeed. You are free indeed. You are no longer to dwell in the lowly places, but to soar above, seated far above with Christ. Like the eagle our dwelling places are far above, and never beneath.

So whatever has been trying to hold you down, must let you go. It is time for you to rebel against every captivity. Your deliverance has been established. Enough is enough. What you do not want, you do not watch. You cannot be held in any habit you don’t want.  You cannot be slave to the sin you hate. You have been set free from every pit. Begin to declare your freedom. And one way to contend for your freedom is on the altar of prayer. Only those who travail in prayers, prevail in life. Every enemy of destiny is subdued by prayer. No matter the situation of your life, God will rescue you on the prayer altar.

Psalm 40:1-2 says ‘I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.’

It doesn’t matter the depth of the pit where you may have found yourself, there is a way out. Perhaps you may be in a pit of financial debts, poverty, sickness or disease. Whatever the situation, as you begin to cry out unto God today, He will incline His ears to you, He will hear you and rescue you in Jesus Name.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for rescuing me from every captivity. By Your blood shed on Calvary my deliverance and victory is established forever in Jesus Name.

JANUARY   9  : STRENGTH FOR A GLORIOUS FLIGHT!

Isaiah 40:31:

But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

DAILY READING  1 Corinthians 9; 2 Kings 1-2; Amos 7

Mountaineers who climb high mountains, and athletes who run long distances, are often very careful about their diet. This is because what they eat, can ultimately affect their  performance.

Also eagles, known to be highflyers, are selective about the food they eat, because the eagle’s ability to fly high is dependent upon the strength of its diet.

Eagles don’t just eat anything. They avoid eating dead things and feed mostly on freshly killed prey.

Fish is the primary food of an eagle. Once an eagle spots a fish swimming or floating near the water surface, it approaches its prey in a shallow glide and then snatches the fish out of the water with a quick swipe of its talons.

An eagle has such a voracious appetite that it can consume half a kilogram of fish in about four minutes.  Eagles also don’t eat every part of their prey, because they cannot digest everything. Things like bones and hair can impair their ability of free flight, so they avoid such. And even when they eat those things, they always afterward, ensure they vomit them out.

Birds that do not fly high such as the  vulture, eat dead things, and as a result they often become easy prey to predators. But the Eagle’s diet keeps it strong and enables it to fly to the topmost heights.

And like the eagle, to fly high, we must also be careful what we eat.

Our primary source of spiritual strength comes from The Word of God. When we wait on The Lord in His Word our strength is renewed to mount up with wings as eagles.

When Elijah was to climb mount Horeb, the angel fed him supernatural food, and he went in the strength of this food for 40 days and 40 nights.

In this year, the journey before us is great. And like, Elijah, we need a supernatural diet to accomplish it. It is indeed a glorious journey, that will require daily drawing strength from  the Word of God.

It is from The Word, that we receive the divine strength and ability to confront every opposition and overcome.

Jeremiah 15:16 says ‘Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.’

When we eat The Word of God, it imparts into us joy. And we know that the joy of The Lord is our strength. And it is by this strength that we can accomplish unimaginable feats.

Ezekiel 2:2 says ‘ And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet,’

Jesus said His Words are spirit and life. As God speaks to us through His Word, The Spirit enters into us and  sets us on our feet, moving us into our God ordained path.

Perhaps having heard the wonderful prophesies of the eagle’s flight this year, you may be wondering how it can become your reality.

Well, it doesn’t matter your natural strength or abilities, when you connect to The Word, divine strength will be imparted into you, for supernatural accomplishments. Because it will not be by power or by might, but by The Spirit of The Lord.

As we draw strength from The Word, The Spirit will be imparted into us for speedy and divine accomplishment of God’s plan and purpose. Indeed there is so much God has in store for us this year. And though the journey may be great, it is also a glorious one. It is a supernatural journey, that will take us to amazing heights. By The Spirit, we will receive  supernatural speed to overtake those ahead of us. We will mount up with wings as eagles, we will walk and not faint, we will run and not be weary. God will be doing a quick work with us, that will turn us into a sign and wonder. We will be moving like the wind so that men cannot understand the amazing things happening in our lives. On this journey, God will go before us like the pillar of fire, and stand behind us like the pillar of cloud. His power and His Presence will envelope us and keep us from all harm. And by His Spirit we will be carried on a flight from glory to glory, and from victory to victory.

PRAYER: Lord, please grant me the grace to come daily to Your Word to draw strength for this journey. By Your Spirit, please carry me on the wings of grace, to unimaginable heights, so that I indeed become a sign and wonder to my world in Jesus Name..

JANUARY 8 : IT TAKES POWER TO FLY HIGH

John 1:12
‘for as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become sons of God

DAILY READING 1 Corinthians 8; 1 Kings 22; Amos 6

In the 20th century, there was what was called a cold war, between the United States and the Soviet Union. This essentially was  rivalry between the two countries. Part of this rivalry was in the Space Race, where each country competed for dominance.

The Space Race began on August 2, 1955, when the US announced its intention to launch artificial satellites into space.  Four days later The Soviet Union responded by declaring their own intention to also launch a satellite.

Privately, the two countries began to monitor each other’s progress, as they raced towards who would be the first to launch a satellite.

However, the Soviet Union beat the US to this, by launching Sputnik 1 on October 4, 1957. In response to the surprise launch of Sputnik 1, the U.S. worked hard to launch their own satellite.  But before work was completed, the Soviet Union launched a second satellite, Sputnik 2, on November 3, 1957.

Perhaps this heightened America’s anxiety, and in their  hurry to also launch a satellite, standards may have been compromised, resulting in the failure of the first US satellite launch on Dec 6 1957. When the rocket, carrying the satellite, rose about 4 feet off the ground, it lost thrust and fell back to the earth ending in an explosion.

However in March 17 of the following year, the US at last successfully launched the Vanguard 1 satellite into space.

The reason for the failure of the first US satellite launch, was because the rocket lost the power to go up and so, overcame by gravity, it fell back to the earth.

On the earth, the force of gravity pulls everything downward. Therefore for any object to go up, it needs great speed and a huge amount of energy to escape this pull of gravity. In science ‘escape velocity’ is the speed an object needs to break away or escape from the pull of gravity.

In his famous 1962 speech championing efforts to go to the Moon, US President John F. Kennedy compared the power of a rocket to the power generated when “10,000 cars are being driven at such extreme speed that their accelerators are pushed to the floor.’ That is indeed great power!

The same holds true spiritually; to go up, we need great power. In other words, the power pulling us up, has to be greater than the force pushing us down.

It is only by the exercise of great power that we can overcome the forces of the enemy. Psalm 66:3  says “Through the greatness of thy power shall thy enemy submit themselves unto thee.”

Indeed life is a warfare. And it is our power level that determines our level of dominion. The greater your power, the more you can dominate.

To fly high on the eagle’s flight, we need supernatural empowerment. And Supernatural empowerment answers to our study of The Word of God and an effectual prayer life.

In Acts 6:4 the disciples declared “But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” And the effect of this was that power kept on erupting, resulting in miracles, signs ad wonders!

We are in the last days which are the days of God’s power. As such, every child of God is empowered to operate in the realms of supernatural exploits. John 1:12 says ‘for as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become sons of God.’

With salvation comes a level of power, but we need to keep increasing that power, because the battles of life are getting hotter everyday. In the school of power, power is in degrees.

Though, Jesus was anointed without measure, yet He kept going to the mountain of prayer to increase His power.

We increase our power through a strong prayer life and study of The Word of God.

It is our depth in the Word that determines our level of dominion. You can’t dominate the world until you are dominated by God through His Word. Staying in the word of God will make you to be on top of the world. To fly high, we must therefore determine to pay the required price of spending time in The Word of God and maintaining a fervent prayer life.

PRAYER: Lord, Please grant me a renewed desire for Your Word and prayer, so that I can be empowered to fly to the great heights You have ordained for me this year in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 7 : TAKE HEED TO THE WORD

Proverbs 21;16
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

DAILY READING 1 Corinthians 7:25-40; 1 Kings 21; Amos 5
The Titanic was the largest passenger liner in service in the early 20th century. It was a ship widely deemed unsinkable. Yet just four days into her maiden voyage, the “unsinkable” ship collided with an iceberg and sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

The sinking of the RMS Titanic occurred on the night of 14 April through to the morning of 15 April 1912. Her sinking resulted in the deaths of more than 1,500 people, which made it one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history.

Despite the fact that the Titanic received seven warnings of sea ice on 14 April , it continued  travelling  at maximum speed.  When her crew finally sighted the iceberg, it was too late, unable to turn quickly enough, the ship  suffered a great blow that buckled her. When the crew realised that the ship would sink, they used distress flares and radio messages to attract help as the passengers were put into lifeboats. With the ship sinking rapidly and help still hours away, there was no safe refuge for many of the passengers and crew. Due to panic, and  poor management of the evacuation, many lives were lost.

It is sad to note that the Titanic sank mainly because  its telegraph operators ignored the numerous warnings they received about icebergs. They had been overly confident that the ship was unsinkable. To them other ships could sink when they hit icebergs, but not the Titanic. Thus, the ship’s captain reportedly did not give orders to slow the ship despite reports of icebergs in the water. The captain  ignored or discounted a total of seven iceberg warnings from other ships. But by the time he realized, that indeed the titanic could sink, it was too late.
1 Corinthians 10:12, says “Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall”

To avoid destruction we must heed instructions. Often before  calamity strikes, God gives several warnings, but the question is, are we listening?

Obedience to God’s instructions is the highway out of every destruction. obedience may be costly, but the reward is priceless.

Proverbs 1:25-27 says ‘But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.’

When God speaks, He speaks to correct, reprove and rebuke so we can be on course in the flight of destiny. It is by obedience to His commandments that we can experience change of levels.

God leads by instructions. His Instructions are the high way to distinction. The Word of God is a lamp unto our feet and light unto our path. It is in His light that we can see light. The moment anyone walks away from the  path of The Word, they begin to walk in  the path of outer darkness, where there is confusion and destruction, where anything can happen.

Proverbs 21:16 says ‘The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.’

Our guarantee for safety in the journey of life is dwelling in the path of light, which is walking in line with  God’s Word. The ways of the world are slippery, their boundaries are continually shifting, you cannot afford to walk on such shifting sands lest you sink.  Not all that glitters is gold, Not all open doors are from God, some are traps in disguise. But it is only by the help of The Spirit that we can discern. We therefore need to strictly adhere to divine instructions. We need to follow the leadings of The Spirit, as he guides us to our promised land.

We cannot depend on our own abilities or capabilities. We cannot think we are strong enough to withstand temptations.  We are in a fight with unseen forces, and without the divine guidance of The Spirit we can easily sink.

We need to take heed to the instructions and warnings from God. On the journey of life, the road is full of icebergs. We need to take heed to the instructions of The Spirit so as to avoid a crash of destiny.  It is only those who obey God’s divine instructions that would be exempted from destruction.

Maybe you have been hitting some ‘icebergs’ lately. Deep in your heart you know  God has been warning you. Well, don’t wait until you crash. Begin now to seek the face of God in prayer, so as to get clear instructions of what He wants you to do. Don’t just assume. Hear clearly for yourself what The Spirit is saying. A daily quiet time spent in studying The Word  and praying, is one way of receiving daily  instructions from The Spirit of God. We are to trust in The Lord with all our heart and not to lean on our own understanding. And as we acknowledge Him in all our ways, surely, He will direct our paths.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to take heed to the instructions of scriptures. Enable me to be totally dependent upon You, as I travel in this journey of life. Please keep my feet from falling and my eyes from tears. Lord, Please guide me always in the path of life, so that I can escape the paths of death and destruction in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 6 : LIVE  READY AND VIGILANT

1 Peter 1:8 KJV
Be sober, be vigilant, because  your adversary  goes about as a roaring lion, seeking for whom to devour

 DAILY READING  1 Corinthians 7:1-24; 1 Kings 20; Amos 4:4-13
Recently the Israeli military wrapped up its largest drill in nearly two decades. This drill involved more than 25,000 active-duty and reserve forces from the army, Navy, airforce and other service branches. Israel knows that some of their enemies  as Hezbollah, have become battle-hardened from the recent fighting in Syria. Not wanting to take the chances of being  caught off guard, the Israeli military simulated an “extreme scenario” for a possible war. During the entire two-week drill, the scenario posited that the Israeli homefront would be pounded by rockets and missiles. It is a scenario that would demand full operational activity of all Israel’s defense forces.

In other words, they are doing a dress rehearsal for a worst possible battle. And by so doing the Israeli military is living in a state of readiness. And indeed battle readiness has been the story of the Jewish nation.

Since the tiny nation of Israel became a state in 1948, they have endured repeated wars and attacks, from the larger Arab nations.

These  battles have put Israel in a constant state of alertness.

Israeli soldiers always live ready for the next battle.

Apart from the occasional wars, Israel also daily has to contend with terrorist attacks from radical Islamic  groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, Fatah, PLO. Greatly outnumbered by its enemies, Israel’s survival from 1948 to the present is surely a miracle. Having a small population, to increase its military might, every Israeli citizen above 18 years, male and female are enlisted in a 3 years mandatory military service. This way every adult in Israel is trained to be a soldier. So that in times of war, Israel has a much larger pool of man power with which to fight. Though after the 3 year mandatory training people go back to their normal lives, in times of war, in a flash they quickly pull off their civilian clothes and don their military uniform. Thus in Israel everyone lives battle ready. No wonder Israeli military is considered one of the finest military in the whole world.

In the same vein we must live battle ready. We must understand as we soar on the Eagle’s flight there will be obstacles to overcome. There will be battles to fight. And our success on this flight will depend on our state of battle readiness.   Ephesians 6 lets us know that we are in a serious spiritual battle. We are not wrestling with flesh and blood but with principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places.  In this ongoing spiritual battle you will survive based on the level of your spiritual readiness. Jesus severally admonished believers to watch and pray and to live ready.

Peter 1: 8 admonishes us to be sober and vigilant, because the enemy is going about as a roaring lion, seeking whom to devour.

As a result of this spiritual battle, there is need for us to store up spiritual strength in readiness. The Bible says in proverbs 24:10 that if you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. Because life’s battle can come suddenly, we are to live already, always prepared for war.  We prepare by maintaining a fervent spiritual life, diligently studying The Bible and keeping the fire always burning on our prayer altar.

The battles of life are represented by the challenges that often come our way.

The road of life is fraught with these challenges. What will determine our victory is how we react to them. Someone said life is 10% what happens and 90% how you react. We must be equipped through The Word to react in faith. Faith is the victory that will overcome. What you put into your mind is what you get out. When pressure is applied, your internal essence is what will come out. When you squeeze orange you get orange juice and when you squeeze grape, you get grape juice, When challenged what you have put into your mind is essentially what flows out.

This is why you must be committed to putting daily the Word of God into your mind, so that when squeezed only the Word of God will come out. And the Word is the answer to every challenge or problem of life. It delivers to us the faith to triumph always.
PRAYER: Lord ,please  help me to live in a state of constant readiness spiritually.Help me also to  be rightly positioned to be a part of the mighty army you are raising in this end-time. May I never miss my place nor break ranks in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 5  : FLYING HIGH THROUGH DIVINE FAVOUR.

Psalms 5:12
‘For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield;

• DAILY READING – 1 Corinthians 6; 1 Kings 19; Amos 3:3-4:3

The feast of Purim is a widely celebrated Jewish holiday. It is the commemoration of what God wrought through Queen Esther according to the biblical account. The feast of Purim celebrates the saving of the Jews, from Haman’s plot to exterminate them in the ancient Persian empire.  It is indeed interesting that 2500 years after queen Esther lived on the earth, she is still a celebrity among the Jews. The feast of Purim which is in her honor, is a very colorful festival celebrated on the 14th and 15th days of the Jewish month of Adar, which is around the month of March.

As part of the celebrations, Jewish people gather at the synagogue where the story of Esther is recited. Observers also perform plays and parodies of Esther’s story. Plays and dramas recount the story of the Book of Esther, which ends with Haman’s hanging and the Jewish people being saved. Purim has a carnival-like atmosphere, with people either wearing their best Sabbath clothing or fancy dress – with King Xerxes, Vashti, Queen Esther, Mordecai and Haman among the most popular costumes. On the eve of Purim, Jews do not eat or drink from dawn until dusk to remember Esther’s three-day fast in preparation to meet the King. However, during the festival people celebrate with lots of eating and drinking. Some congregations also shout “Long live Mordecai, cursed be Haman, blessed be Esther” or “May the name of the wicked rot!” Purim holiday is celebrated with parades and costume parties every year among the Jews.

Indeed, the story of Esther is the story of divine elevation and favor. It is a story that exemplifies how God can give someone a sudden flight of destiny, taking them from the dunghill to sit among princes.

Such supernatural flight is a function of divine favor.

And in the agenda of God, divine favor is His plan for the end-time church. The last days are the era of supernatural favor in the body of Christ. We are in the time of an unusual release of supernatural favor in the Church. And everyone divinely connected to God is meant to enjoy a covering of favor.

Psalms 5:12 says ‘For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield;

The clothing of favor is what will make the eagle’s flight a reality for us. Because it will not be by might, nor by Power but by The Spirit of The Lord. It is by favor that we will be ushered into sudden flight and speed, where we suddenly attain heights we could never have achieved on our own. Favor made the difference in Esther’s life. From an unknown orphan girl she suddenly became a queen and today is a  celebrated historical figure. The same way when the favor of God locates you, supernatural flight to unimaginable heights becomes your testimony.

Psalm 44:3 says ‘For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them’

We will take over the land not by labor, but by  favor.

It is favour in a man’s life that defines the quality of his life.

During the exodus of the Israelites, they experienced the tangibility of divine favor.

Exodus 3:21 says ‘And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty’

God is committed to giving His people favor, and we are privileged to be His people by redemption. Hence, we are entitled to divine favor.

Favor was the identity of Jesus and also of the early church.

Luke 2:52 says ‘And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man’.

And also Acts 2:47 said the disciples were ‘Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved .

In the same way in this endtime, favour is our divine identity.

Favour is a mystery. It cannot be orchestrated by human effort. A man of Power may do the work, but a man of Favour will reap the harvest.

And one way to engage divine favour is through a praise lifestyle. Because when you engage in praise, you engage the Presence of God. And when you are surrounded by God, you are surrounded by good. Every man that makes praise His lifestyle would never run out of favor. When praise becomes your lifestyle, then favor becomes your story.
PRAYER: Lord, please  let Your favour make the difference for me on this eagle’s flight. What labour  could never have achieved in my life, may Your favour  make it possible for me in this season in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 4 : PREPARATION FOR MANIFESTATION

Proverbs 15:24 KJV

24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

DAILY READING –   1 Corinthians 5; 1 Kings 18; Amos 2:1-3:2
To fly high, you must pass through a necessary process of preparation.

Indeed it is our year of Eagle’s flight, but we must understand that there is always a price to pay to arise  to greater heights.

An eagle goes through a season of rigorous preparation before it can fly high. Eagles are lonely creatures. They fly alone, because not every bird can go through the rigorous training the eagle undergoes to attain to great heights.

If indeed your desire is to be at the top this year, then you must be willing to pay the price of preparation. You must be willing to go through the process where  God purges  and prepares you for the heights ahead.

Preparation demands discipline, self-denial, sacrifice, and restrains. You cannot go up without first overcoming the limiting forces that try to keep you down. These limiting forces could be sin and fleshly tendencies.

Proverbs 15:24 KJV says ‘The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.’

So the forces of hell operate beneath. And you need to overcome them before you can arise.

Challenges always come at the point of growth or moving to a new level. When you get into a seat on an airplane, what is the first thing you are told? Fasten your seat belt. Why? Because you are about to go up, in other words, brace yourself for the turbulence. In the same way, when you are about to move to your next level of accomplishment, you must fasten your spiritual seat belts because you must endure the turbulence of change.

Galatians 6:9 says ‘And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.’

The pains of preparation will always end in the gains of manifestation. Butterflies are one of Nature’s most beautiful and amazing creatures. They fly and float beautifully in the air. But this is only after they have  gone through a long metamorphic process. A moth will not become a beautiful butterfly until it has endured the struggle through the tiny hole in its cocoon. When a moth is struggling to get through the hole it is actually forcing the fluid from its body into its wings. Without the struggle the wings will not get the necessary fluid to grow, without the struggle the butterfly’s wings would never be strong enough to function and fly. And without flight the butterfly will not be able to survive.

Therefore preparation must always precede manifestation. It doesn’t take time to manifest but it takes time to prepare. When people see you rising and soaring they may not understand the price you paid in the place of preparation.

Preparation is the fundamental key in the school of success.

2 Chronicles 27:6. Says ‘So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.’

You either prepare to succeed or subscribe to regret. One thing is sure, God has ordained the eagle’s flight for your lifting, but you might not get anything from it if you don’t adequately prepare. This is why God is calling you to re-organize yourself for maximum impact this season.

It is only those who have paid their due, in preparation that becomes due for manifestation.

To get to where God wants us to be, we must be willing to go through the required process.  It is impossible to get from where we are to where we are going without making a transition. To ascend to the height God has for us we must be willing to go through the process of transition. And God is more interested in the process than in our comfort.  We need to realize that God is taking us somewhere. He is repositioning us. And even when we face storms, we must also remember that the storm is not the destination but the pathway to a destination. But no matter what process God passes us through, according to Romans 8:28 All things are working together for our good, because we  love God, and are called according to His purpose.

So on this eagle’s flight, be willing to embrace the process of preparation, because God won’t project you unless He has first prepared you.

PRAYER: Father please help me to submit to  the process that will prepare me for my next level.  Please destroy every force of limitation in my life so that I can rise to the place you have mapped out for me in this season in Jesus Name.

JANUARY 3 : ACCESSING DIVINE GUIDANCE

John 16:13

‘Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.’

DAILY READING – •           1 Corinthians 4; 1 Kings 17; Amos 1

In the 18th and 19th centuries, lighthouses were widely used to warn ships of hazardous coastlines. In dark and treacherous weathers, the constant beam of the lighthouse helped to guide ships into safe harbors and kept them from wrecking.

In the state of North Carolina, lies one of the most dangerous stretches of ocean in the world. Over the past 400 years, more than 300 ships have sunk in this area, which has come to be known as “The Graveyard of the Atlantic”. What makes this area so dangerous is a 14 mile stretch of shifting sands, called “Diamond Shoals”.

Recognizing the need to warn ships at sea of this dangerous sandbar, the U.S. government constructed a lighthouse on Cape Hatteras in 1870.

This lighthouse is the world’s tallest brick lighthouse. At a staggering 208′ ft. tall, it has become one of the most famous and recognizable lighthouses in the world. Its beam of light spans 20 miles into the ocean, signaling ships at sea. As a result, many ships and lives, have been saved because of the guidance provided by this lighthouse.

The Holy Spirit can be likened to our lighthouse. In the journey of life, we need  His ministry to avoid a shipwreck of destiny.

On this eagle’s flight, we must understand there is a flight plan. We are not just flying anyhow. There is a plan God has laid out for us. And we need The Holy Spirit to guide us into it. As we move into spiritual maturity or grow ‘older’, we can no longer afford to live anyhow. To live anyhow, is to end up anyhow. We must therefore submit to the guidance of The Spirit.

John 21:18 says ‘Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.’

In the days of ignorance, or spiritual immaturity, God may have winked at us, but now He wants us to come to the place of sonship, where we are carried by His Spirit on eagle’s wings. Because what will be accomplished in our lives will not be by might, nor by power but only by The Spirit.

You can’t know greatness until you know guidance.  And we can never outgrow the need for divine guidance.

John 16:13 says  ‘Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.’

The Spirit shows us things to come. He shows us what to do to ascend to the next level of greatness that God has in store for us. What He showed Joseph took him from the prison to the palace overnight. As we fellowship with Him, He will show us what eyes have not seen, nor ears heard and neither has entered into the hearts of men.

The Holy Spirit empowers us for the Fulfillment of Destiny. He enables us to do exploits, to set the pace, blaze the trail, ad ascend to amazing heights. Therefore for our eagle’s flight to be a reality, we need Him actively at work in our lives.

Without power you cannot go up. And to experience power there is a price to pay. There are no stars without scars. And the scar of stars is sacrifice. The price for power is purity. To be empowered to enjoy a glorious flight,

let us therefore be willing to pay the price of purity.

PRAYER: Lord, Please by Your Spirit, guide me on this journey of destiny. Help me to be willing to pay whatever price it takes, to experience the empowerment of Your Spirit in my life in Jesus Name.
