FEBRUARY 11 : GUIDED BY THE WORD!

PSALM 119:130

The entrance of Thy Words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
DAILY READING   2 Corinthians 8; 2 Kings 20-21; Nahum 2
God gives us light via His Word to see our way forward in life.  It is in His Word that we see light to understand the mysteries of our lives. We can never understand our times, seasons and reasons behind them except we come to The Word and allow The Holy Spirit to unravel truth to us. It is the entrance of The Word of God that gives us light.

When Alexander the great arrived to  conquer Jerusalem. Something strange happened.  According to the historical account given by Josephus, a Jewish historian, as Alexander approached,  Jaddua the Jewish High Priest went out to meet  him having in his hand a copy of the book of Daniel. He opened the scroll and showed  Alexander  the  prophesy concerning   him.   In Daniel chapter 8 Daniel had prophesied of the conquests of the he-goat from the Greek empire, representing Alexander,   which were so swift that his feet appeared not to even touch the ground as he devoured “the whole earth” (Daniel 8:5). At that time Alexander had  with unprecedented speed  conquered  Asia Minor, Syria, Egypt, Mesopotamia, and all the way to India in only twelve years. With an army of only 30,000, he defeated Darius III who had 500,000 soldiers. His success was so extraordinary and  his  subjugation of the entire known world the most rapid humanity had ever witnessed at that time. Recognizing himself in that prophesy , Alexander marveled.  He was  so  impressed  that instead of destroying Jerusalem,  he peaceably  entered into the city  and worshipped at the Temple.

Alexander was humbled by the prophesy of Himself he found in the scriptures. God knows the end from the beginning and has already decided everyman’s destiny. Our job is to discover the destiny that God has already mapped out for us. And just as Alexander found about himself, there is also something written about you in the scriptures. When you search in The word, The Holy Spirit will begin to unravel to you, the script to the drama of your life. There is a reason why things have happened the way they have. There is truth you need to uncover that will aid you as you journey through life.  The Bible  is not an ordinary book.  It is God’s medium of communicating truth.  It’s our only true light in a world of darkness. To move forward in life, to fulfill destiny, you need to pay attention to what God is really saying in His Word.  When you begin to develop a culture of total regard for the Word, the Spirit will open up its content to you with depth of revelations you never imagined.  It will be the road map to your glorious destination. When you are guided by the light of scriptures you will never miss the path to your high places.

PRAYER: Lord, Please help me to access The Light in Your Word. Please give me understanding as I study scriptures, to  know the way forward for me. Please open me up to the revelation from Your Word that will revolutionize my life, so that I can begin to ascend to the glorious height You have ordained for me in this Eagle’s flight in Jesus Name.

FEBRUARY 10 : WINNING THE BATTLES OF LIFE

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Matthew 25:7-10
DAILY READING 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:16; 2 Kings 19; Nahum 1

The battles of life often come suddenly. And what determines if you win or lose is the strength already stored up within you. The Bible says if you faint in the day of battle, your strength is small. So in order to win in battles we need great strength. And this strength is drawn from God’s Word. When we are strengthened by The Word, we become more than conquerors in every battle of life.

On July 19, 1989, for the first time in aviation history a completely un-steerable plane was brought to the runway in what was a clear Miracle.  Helen Young Hayes who was onboard, shared this story of God’s deliverance, on a CBN News interview. She recalled her experience after she boarded United Airlines Flight 232 in Denver, bound for Chicago.

As the plane was careening and going down: Chaos filled the cabin with passengers thrown in their seats and flames all around them. But in the midst of that chaos, The Word of God came to fore in Helen’s mind. She prayed that God literally guide the pilots’ hands as they attempted to land a DC-10 with no hydraulic assistance – something that had never been done before. She closed her eyes, focused on the pilots’ hands, and asked the Lord to give them ‘’guidance and wisdom and show them what to do.” Indeed God answered her prayers, and the plane was landed safely.

The Word already stored in Helen’s heart was what came to the fore in the crisis. In a time of trouble  what works is The Word already stored within you. When confronted suddenly, what is inside of you is what rises to the fore. When you have spent quality time building up The Word within you, during trials and challenges the Word will rise to give you guidance and grant you victory.

Every believer has the responsibility to go in pursuit of the Word. The Word you are going for may not be the Word you need today necessarily, but it is a Word you will need to access and draw from in the future when faced with a test or trial. When you study your Bible therefore; it should be a deliberate action of making daily withdrawals from the Book of life. It is something you must do consistently, because by so doing you prepare yourself against the day of battle. When confronted, there should be strength within you to rise up to the challenge.

You don’t have to wait for trouble to come first before you know you are to study The Word, it may be too late then. Decide today to begin to store The Word in enough quantity and quality in your heart so that whenever trouble knocks your victory is assured.
PRAYER Lord Please grant me a renewed appetite for Your Word. Please help me to always store up your Word in my heart, so that by the power in Your Word I can be a conqueror in every battle of life in Jesus Name.

FEBRUARY 9 : BUILT TO LAST!

Mathew 7: 24
‘Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:  25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;  and it fell not:  for it was founded upon a rock.-
DAILY READING 2 Corinthians 5:11-6:13; 2 Kings 18; Micah 7
In 1992, Hurricane Andrew destroyed thousands of homes in South Florida. Yet in an area where the wreckage looked like a war zone, one house remained standing, still firmly anchored to its foundation. When a reporter asked the homeowner why his house had not been blown away, he replied, “I built this house myself. I also built it according to the Florida state building code. When the code called for 2” x 6” roof trusses, I used 2” x 6” roof trusses. I was told that a house built according to code could withstand a hurricane—and it did.”
This house survived the hurricane because the owner built according to instructions. In Mathew 7:24, Jesus lets us know the importance of building according to instructions. It is the house that is built upon the solid foundation of the Rock, representing The Word of God, that survives the storm.
A storm will always demonstrate the stability of your foundation.

Psalms 11:3 says ‘If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?’

When personal storms come many lives are often destroyed and left in shambles, but if you construct your life according to Christ’s building codes you will not be disappointed. Obedience to Jesus’ words is protection in the midst of troubles. The time you invest in laying a strong biblical foundation will pay off, when the storms of life strike.

Building on the rock is the best flood insurance you can invest in. In the journey of life, storms will come and go. You are either in a trial, coming out of a trial, or entering into a trial. Nevertheless, if you’ve built your life on the foundation of Christ, you have nothing to fear.

That means you must guard your foundation and ensure that it is rooted and grounded in the Word of God, because it is only that which is built upon Christ that will last and  not suffer loss.

Mathew 7:24 says ‘Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:  25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;  and it fell not:  for it was founded upon a rock.’

Rock is strong and immovable. But sand is always shifting. Building on the rock is building your life based on the Immovable Word of God. God’s word abides forever, it never shifts or changes. What God said 6000 years ago still remains the same today. Heaven and earth shall pass away but His Word remains infallible forever. It doesn’t matter the present situation, The Word always prevails in the end.  It’s like pouring water over oil, the oil will always ascend to be on top of the water. The Word of God will always arise to be on top of every situation.

But building upon sand is building upon the shifting ways of the world.. The man who builds on such shifting policies and promises, in time, his house will fall. The arm of flesh would always fail. But when you base your life on the Word and trust in God, no matter what happens God will always keep you, so that you cannot fall.
PRAYER:  Lord please help me to always build my life on the strong  foundation of Your infallible Word.. Grant me the grace to pay the necessary price to store up Your Word in my heart. I know that by Your grace, I will always stand. No matter what comes my way, I shall never fall in Jesus Name.

FEBRUARY 8 : RUN BY DIVINE GUIDANCE!

Hebrews 12:1

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us..

DAILY READING –2 Corinthians 4:1-5:10; 2 Kings 17; Micah 6

Having the proper attire is crucial for a marathon race. For comfort and performance, having the right gear is very important. In such a long race wearing even the wrong fabrics can cause chafing and blisters, which can cause discomfort, distract you and negatively affect your performance. Also carrying extra weight during a race will hinder and slow down your movement. Therefore good, proper running gear is very important. It’s a long race and you don’t need anything to distract or slow you down.  The race of life is similar, you don’t need weights and distractions, Rather you need to run focusing on the Word who is Jesus. It is a race we run with patience.  Patience is waiting on The Lord, it is waiting for God’s time and waiting to hear from Him before we make any significant step. We do not rush into battles or quickly take rash decisions, we first of all sit in The Word and patiently to hear what the Lord will say to us. We access His guidance through patience. And as we hear we judge, or take actions. Jesus said in John 5:30 ‘I can of my own self do nothing as I hear I judge’.

For us to run successfully the race of life, we must wait for God to lead and guide us. Those who lack the patience to wait in The Word and hear the next instruction are prone to run into ditches in life. But divine instruction delivers from death and destruction.  Not every open door is for you. Hear first what God is saying before you make a move. Some so called ‘open doors’ could be traps in disguise. So depending only on your physical senses and your wisdom is not enough to guarantee you will not fall into a trap. Do not be in a hurry, take time to seek God.   Depend on the guidance of The Holy Spirit, He is The one who knows the end from the beginning and is able to search out the secrets of men’s hearts. Let Him guide you in all your decisions, and as you follow His guidance you can be sure you will end well in this race of life. .

PRAYER:  Lord please help me to wait upon You, to receive instructions from You on what to do, before I ever make any move in life. Help me never to rely on my own wisdom, but to always seek the guidance of Your Spirit as I run this race of life, in Jesus Name.

FEBRUARY 7 : GOD’S WORD ABIDES FOREVER!

Psalm 119:89 KJV

For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

We live in a world that tends to see the Bible as nothing more than a mere book. Some see it as a story book; others as a history book. But the fact remains The Bible is not an ordinary book   It is a book of life and death.

In some countries  it is banned, burned and destroyed. In some of these countries, just holding the Bible  can get you killed.  While in other countries, it is deeply loved and cherished, and highly revered.

It is translated into more languages than any other book. It is the oldest book known to man, yet mysteriously also, it is the most sold book of all times. Yearly it remains current and in circulation, outselling every other book. Its content are more than mere letters, it’s the breath of The Spirit encapsulated in living words. These are words which by divine inspiration were penned down and preserved over the ages by the power of God.  As you read, there is such flow and coordination, that it is hard to believe that this is a book written over  a period of 1600 years, [from 1500 BC to AD 100], by 40 different men, who lived at different times. Yet it is all brought together by The Holy Spirit, to make perfect sense. More than an ordinary book, the Bible is supernatural.  Not only does the Bible give accurate account of the past, it also gives precise predictions of the future. Over 3200 prophesies of the Bible have been fulfilled and more are more are still coming to pass. Perhaps most importantly, The Bible is the only book which  contains the actual words of God  More than 3,000 times in the Bible you will find “thus saith the Lord’, with the very words of God written down. This is God’s direct communication to humanity. This is God speaking to us.

This is why you should approach the Bible with reverence, knowing it contains the living Word of God the Living God; Words that can transform you. Reading it as a history book may add historic knowledge to you, but reading it as God’s Word to you gives you access to the life of God therein. And His Word carries power to bring you to your destined place.

Hebrews 4:12 says  ‘For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.’

Indeed The Word of God is living.  It is alive. God’s Spirit is moving within the pages. When we read an ordinary book, we are entertained or informed.  But when we  read the Bible, it imparts life into us. As we read, there is an inner conviction and stirring in our hearts. God’s Spirit can through a verse or passage, minister God’s will to us, to guide us on the right path of life. Indeed the Bible is no ordinary book.  It is alive! It is inhabited by  The Spirit of God, who through the pages direct us on the right path to go in life. So as you approach the Word today, realize that you are coming in contact with living Words which has the ability to change your life forever..

PRAYER: Lord, your Word is unchanging, and true. By Your Word transform me daily into the image of Christ.. As I study Your Word, let Your Power therein, bring about a definite positive change in my life in Jesus Name.

FEBRUARY 6 : LIVE AS A REFLECTION OF JESUS.

Matthew 5:16

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven
DAILY READING • 2 Corinthians 1:1-2:4; 2 Kings 14; Micah 4:1-5:1

Desmond Tutu was a South African social rights activist and Anglican bishop who rose to worldwide fame during the 1980s as an opponent of apartheid. He was asked by the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) to identify the defining moment in his life. Desmond spoke of the day in 1940 when he and his mother were walking down the street of his hometown of Klerksdorp, South Africa. Desmond was nine years old. A tall white man dressed in a black suit came towards them. In the days of apartheid, when a black person and a white person met while walking on a footpath, the black person was expected to step into the gutter to allow the white person to pass and nod their head as a gesture of respect. But this day, before a young Desmond and his mother could step off the sidewalk the white man stepped off the sidewalk and, as mother and son passed, tipped his hat in a gesture of respect to her! The white man was Trevor Huddleston, an Anglican priest who was bitterly opposed to apartheid. It changed Desmond’s life. When his mother told him that Trevor Huddleston had stepped off the sidewalk because he was a man of God, Desmond found his calling. “I decided there and then that I wanted to be an Anglican priest too. And what is more, I wanted to be a man of God” said Desmond.

What Trevor Huddleston did so impressed young Desmond that it affected his life and destiny. The Priest’s attitude mirrored his Christian faith. His decision to honor God through his actions, affected a young boy, whose life would in turn affect his generation.

We should be living epistles. Wherever we are, whatever we do, we should always seek to reflect Christ and honor God. Let our light always so shine before men that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in Heaven.

A way of honoring God, is using whatever position we occupy in life, to promote His kingdom. Let us see our positions as opportunities to further the Gospel. As a military officer, banker, lawyer, politician, doctor, etc, let our actions always reflect the truth of the Gospel, we preach. In all we do let us become epistles that people will read and turn to God. Let us become the signposts that turn men to Jesus. As a believer your life is under constant surveillance by unbelievers. They are constantly watching you to see if you indeed practice what you preach. And what you say or do may make the difference in a soul’s eternal destination.

Therefore let us endeavor always to live a life that glorifies God.

PRAYER: Lord, please let everything in me and around me, continually proclaim the Gospel. Make  me a living epistle, an open Bible that all around me can read and be edified. May my light so shine before men that they may see my good works and glorify my Father in Heaven, in Jesus Name.

February 5 : STORMS MAKE YOU STRONGER

Ps 92:12

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

In the land of Israel there are many palm trees. One outstanding characteristic of these palm trees is their straightness. The idea of uprightness in scripture is principally conveyed by two Hebrew words, “yashar”and “tam’, which mean straightness.

Even at heights of 60 to 80 feet, palm trees remain remarkably erect. During a storm, it can bend, even flatten almost horizontal to the ground, yet not break. Once the storm is over, it just pops back up to its original position.

News coverage of hurricane Katrina in 2005, gave a special coverage to the palm tree. After the worst hurricane that ever devastated the U.S; with houses destroyed, cars overturned, and tons of littered debris, many palm trees survived unaffected. While bigger trees snapped like toothpicks in the wind, the Palm Trees remained unbroken. This is because of its genetic make-up for flexibility. Scientists have found that storms actually makes palm trees stronger.

Psalm 92:12 says the palm tree flourishes despite oppositions. Through great storms, the palm tree not only survives but thrives stronger. So when David says that the righteous will flourish like the Palm Tree, it means that despite the storms of life, you will survive, rise again, and keep flourishing. In fact, the storms only come to make you stronger. You may bend, but you are getting right back up again!

No storm can last forever. It too shall pass. Keep in mind that trouble comes to pass, not to stay. Surely there is an end and thy expectations shall not be cut off.  Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

No matter what storm you face today, you need to know God loves you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He won’t give up on you, as long as you don’t give up on Him. He has not abandoned you. Though sometimes, it may seem as if you are bending because of the fierceness of the storm, do not give in, do not give up. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Keep holding on to God and His Word. It is only for a while. The storm will soon run out of rain.  Challenges and trials., will soon pass away. And surely you will rise again..

Prov. 24:16 says the righteous man falls seven times and yet rises again..

As part of the army God is raising in this end-time, understand that your case is different..  God is doing a new thing. He is preparing a people for His glory, a mighty army on the face of the earth. They are a strong race, people who will not bow to any opposition. Whatever they face, they will take the licking and still keep ticking.

You are undefeatable.  So no matter what you are facing now, get up! You’re not broken! You are built to last. The stronger one lives in you, and because He lives, you shall live also.

Our help is in the Name of The Lord. We draw strength daily from His Word. Therefore to remain strong in the face of every storm, we need to  keep our root grounded in the Word of God. When you hold on to The Word, you will only grow stronger as the storm rages.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to stand strong despite the fierce winds of oppositions. Thank You for strengthening me by Your Word. No matter what comes my way, I thank you for the grace to always rise stronger and better in Jesus Name. .

FEBRUARY  4 : STANDING STILL !

Psalm 46:10 KJV

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.  –

DAILY READING –  1 Corinthians 15:35-58; 2 Kings 11; Micah 2

IMAGINE HOW the children of Israel must have felt as they stood at the edge of the red sea! In front of them was the huge ocean, with waves rising and crashing, tempestuous winds roaring. Then behind them Pharaoh’s furious force edging in, the hoof beats of the horses drawing closer and closer, the steel grating of the chariots whirring, the glint of the spears and swords flashing in the morning sun. Talk about panic. Imagine the mothers clutching their children instinctively closer, the fathers looking about wildly for a hiding place, and finding none. Then in the midst of this desperate situation, Moses stands and says ‘stand ye still and see the salvation of The Lord. Stand still? How can one stand still in such situation.

Well, many times this is what the Spirit of God says to us in the midst of chaos. Be still and know that I am God. Why should we be still? Because the battle is not ours but the Lords. God is able to handle every battle against you, when you trust in Him. Understand that by strength shall no man prevail. When a great battle is set against you, then you need more than your own strength, you need the supernatural strength of God to overcome for you.  In such a tight situation, caught between the rock and the hard place, it took the supernatural  power of God to part the red sea and make a way for the Israelites, even where there seemed to be no way. It is your faith that determines your fate .

When it seems everything has tightened up, and all doors closed, you need God’s power to break through the barriers and make a way for you. This is why you stand still, because it will take stillness to encounter God, it will take stillness in prayer to hear the voice of The Spirit that shows you the way out.

PRAYER: Lord, please give the strength to be still in every  storm, and the wisdom to discern your voice when you are trying to guide me.

FEBRUARY 3 : PATH TO RECOVERY !

Luke 15:8 KJV

Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

DAILY READING –   1 Corinthians 15:1-34; 2 Kings 10; Micah 1

It was said at a party or social function, he will be found under a table or in some corner scribbling in his notebook!

This was the extent of Sir Isaac Newton’s dedication to his work. Sir Isaac Newton, a scientist, yet devout Christian, was used mightily by God to make astounding scientific discoveries..  He is considered one of the greatest scientists in history. Even Albert Einstein said that Isaac Newton was the smartest person that ever lived

History has a record of many such men and women who through discoveries marked a turn in human development. For many of them; the process of discovery took time but, they kept at it: studying, researching, finding facts. When they eventually make that one discovery, they not only become celebrated, but also within them there is a depth of satisfaction that becomes a justifiable reward for all the effort and arduous labor invested in their search..

It is the same when you devote yourself to search in The Word to make a discovery. In Luke 15 the Bible talks about the woman who lost her coin and lighted her candle and searched diligently until she had found the lost coin.

Discovery leads to recovery. Sometimes by refusing to act according to the Word of God, we can lose things which originally belonged to us in the covenant. We could lose wealth, health. Peace etc due to ignorance or not walking in line with God’s will

But we can experience restoration or recovery of these things by simply going to the Book of Covenant, to search out where we missed it. Diligent search in The Word will locate your missing inheritance..  And When you find it there is a reward and your expectations are not cut off.

PRAYER; Father please help me  to make the discovery from your Word that will lead to recovery of all I have lost in Jesus Name.

FEBRUARY 2 : THE HIDDEN SEASON OF LIFE!

Luke 6:48 KJV

He is like a man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock:

DAILY READING 1 Corinthians 14:26-40; 2 Kings 9; Jonah 4
There is a hidden season of life where God trains us. This season can be likened to the growth of the Chinese Bamboo Tree.

One of the most unique and amazing plants in the world is the Chinese Bamboo Tree. It doesn’t grow in the typical fashion of other trees.  Once planted, one must water, feed and nurture the seed every day, for four years. Yet for those four years there is no evidence of growth, no evidence of life. For four years it seems like one is totally wasting their efforts. Because there is no sign a tree was planted there.. But during those first four years this Bamboo Tree is actually growing a very strong, deep and extensive root system below the surface of the ground. This extensive root system is necessary to sustain the life of this amazing tree. One cannot see this growth with the naked eye, but one who understands plants knows exactly what is happening. The farmer cannot see it, but he knows the seed is growing. He keeps watering and providing sunlight to it because he understands if he stops, this plant will die. But then in the fifth year an amazing thing happens. The tree finally breaks the surface of the ground and in the space of five weeks grows to an astounding height of 90 feet. It is as if the tree grows right before a person’s eyes.

In the same way, the ministry God has called us to, is a walk of faith. We must trust God even when we cannot trace Him. In the hidden season of life, we continue to invest our time and energy into His Kingdom because we understand that something is happening just beneath the surface. Whatever is happening beneath the surface is a necessary part of the manifestation.  We may not see the answer today, but that doesn’t mean the answer is not being worked on today. Our faith in God gives us the patience to keep working and waiting until His answer comes.

Our endeavors start first in the spirit with prayer as the foundation. This is the unseen season where like the Chinese bamboo we keep watering by faith even though there may be no visible signs of outward manifestation. But we trust that as we keep watering in prayer, underneath the surface God is working.

Whatever it is we are called to do we must first establish it in the spirit through prayer, before it manifests physically. We have to lay the spiritual foundation first before we start building physically.

Many endeavors fail, because people try to build without the foundation of the spirit first in place, so the whole thing comes toppling down.

God’s order of things is the spirit first, then the physical follows. Even nature teaches us that there is a hidden unseen season before manifestation.

As human beings we were first in the unseen place of our mother’s womb where we were nurtured and preserved until the time came for us to become physically manifest. For nine months we were unseen, until the due season.  So is your destiny. It has an unseen season when it seems as if nothing is happening, but if you will only continue to obey God in your hidden season, in the due season your manifestation will come.

Prayer is the foundation. The man who tries to build without a spiritual foundation found that when the wind, rain and storm came his great house crumbled.

Because there will be oppositions, it is in the hidden season of prayers that you deal with the oppositions that will arise.

Whatever you are embarking upon, marriage, childbirth, education etc, you require prayer investment for it to succeed. Life is handled with prayer.

The height of any building is determined by the depths of its foundation. We shouldn’t expect a great dream to manifest without first establishing it in the spirit through a season of prayer.
PRAYER:  Lord please help me to build my life upon the solid foundation of Your Word and prayer, help me to pay the required price to lay the needed spiritual foundation for my endeavors  in Jesus name.
