A mother’s love can sometimes be sacrificial. Agathe Uwilingiyimana was Rwanda’s first and only female prime minister. After the former Rwandan President Juvénal Habyarimana was killed in a plane crash,  prime Minister Agathe became Rwanda’s constitutional head of government. However her rule did not last long, because of the Rwandan genocide that began soon after the former president’s death. As the Hutus began killing the Tutsis, the U.N. peacekeeping force sent an escort of ten Belgian peacekeepers to her home before 3 am the following morning. They were to take her to Radio Rwanda, from where she planned to make a dawn broadcast appealing for national calm. Her house was further guarded by five Ghanaian U.N. troops, who were stationed outside. Inside the house, her family was protected by the Rwandan presidential guard. However the presidential guard were not loyal to her. In a surprising move, the presidential guard that were meant to protect her, turned around and shot down the U.N. troops sent to escort her. Seeing the stand-off outside her home, Uwilingiyimana knew the guards would seek next to kill her and her family. And so they immediately scaled the walls and took refuge in the Kigali U.N. volunteer compound near their house. The Rwandan presidential guard searched fruitlessly in the neighboring houses looking for Uwilingiyimana, her husband and her five children. However as more Hutu soldiers arrived and the search intensified, she feared it was only a matter of time before they were discovered. In a bid to save her children who stayed hidden in the adjoining compound, she quickly came out of hiding and surrendered herself.  She and her husband were instantly killed. Her children remained undiscovered. They later escaped and eventually took refuge in Switzerland. After the war, in 1995, Uwilingiyimana was declared a Heroine among the greatest Heroes of Rwanda.

However, Agatha Uwilingiyimana died because her mother’s heart would not let her risk her children’s lives. She would rather sacrifice her life to give them a chance of survival.

Indeed a mother’s love is precious. But in Isaiah 49:15 God says ‘Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

Here, God lets us know that as precious as a mother’s love can be, it still doesn’t compare to His love for us.

The truth is that we are created with a hole in our hearts that only God can fill. We are created to be deeply and totally loved, but only God is capable of such extravagance. God’s love is unconditional and everlasting. Right from our mother’s womb, God crafted us with infinite care, weaving our DNA into a symmetrical double helix formation and imprinting His love into our newly beating heart.

You can be loved by many, but deep down you’ll feel needy and insecure until you encounter the love of God. As believers, we know how empty our lives felt, until we encountered the love of Christ.

This message of God’s love is the constant and central message of the Bible. It was the Love of God that changed the world, with the gift of His only son, Christ our savior who laid down His life for us. It is indeed amazing that God sees us as worth dying for.  He thinks us valuable and precious in His sight. And He does not love us because of who we are. He loves us because of who He is.

Jeremiah 31:3 says ‘ The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

Everlasting means time will not change God’s mind; seasons, circumstances, situations, will not change His mind concerning you. indeed God’s love never ceases. And according to Romans 8:38-39, nothing can separate us from His love.  He has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’” (Heb 13:5). God’s love will never walk out on you. He will always be there for us, He is our ever present help in the time of need.

No matter where you may be today, be assured of God’s love. Be assured that He will move mountains for you, He will break protocols for your sake and according to Isaiah 43, even give men for your life. Understand that you are so precious that Psalm 91 says God has given His angels charge over you lest you dash your foot against a stone; even your toes are precious. The very hairs of your head  are numbered.  God says whosoever touches you touches the apple of His eyes. What this means is that your enemies are in trouble. Because their attempt to touch you, is an attempt to touch the apple of God’s eyes. And when God arises they will surely be scattered.

Therefore, rest assured today that you are totally loved by the Powerful creator of the universe. He will fight for you. He will prevail for you. He is on your side, and if God be for you, who can be against you? Indeed when you know God loves you, you’ll live life with more confidence and security, and you’ll be inspired to soar and become everything God has created you to be.

PRAYER:  Lord please help me to understand Your deep love for me. Help me  to be constantly assured of Your unshakable love; In every situation, help me to know that You are on my side. Thank You so much Lord for Your unfailing love, in Jesus name.

ACTS 2:2

‘And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

• DAILY READING – Luke 9:28-62; Genesis 16; Psalm 9

 In 1854 a sailing vessel was in a dire distress. The wind carrying it had suddenly ceased, stalling its movement. Unable to sail forward, the ship was now drifting towards the shore. A four-knot current carried it swiftly toward some sunken reefs. The danger however was, on that shore was a cannibal island on the coast of New guinea. And already the cannibals having sighted the ship, were now awaiting excitedly for it to land. They had even lighted fires in anticipation of a great feast of human flesh.

The English captain and the crew of his ship, had done everything they could to change the ship’s course without succeeding, Alarmed, they now stood on the deck awaiting a fate of doom.

However  aboard the same ship were some Christian missionaries headed to China. One of them was J. Hudson Taylor, who would later become one of China’s greatest missionaries. When informed about the impending doom by the captain, Hudson replied. “There is one thing we haven’t done. Four of us on board are Christians. Let each of us retire to his cabin and in agreed prayer ask the Lord to give us a breeze immediately.”  And so they went into prayers.  After a few minutes of earnest intercession, Hudson came up on deck confident that the petition had been granted. Finding the first officer, in charge, he requested him to let down the corners of the mainsail immediately, because a wind was coming. There was not a minute to waste, since they were so near the cannibals now. But the officer doubted the possibility of a wind, since he couldn’t find any, but as he was still questioning Hudson’s request, he suddenly noticed that the topmost sail was beginning to tremble, indicating indeed the presence of wind. They immediately let down the mainsail, even as a great wind descended, engulfing the ship and immediately carrying them away from the dangerous reefs, much to the disappointment of the native cannibals on the beach.

John 14:13,says “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

Prayer works. Through prayer, we engage the wind of The Spirit to carry us to our desired shores. Indeed we need the wind of The Spirit to set sail in life. Without His  wind, a man’s life will remain stagnant or much worse, drift to dangerous shores.

If therefore there has been no desired forward  movement around you, it is because His wind is missing.

Just as Jesus could not do miracles until The Spirit came upon Him, there can be no divine activity until His wind comes. The apostle were locked up in the upper room bound in fear. But when the wind of The Spirit began to blow in acts 2, they broke out into the city and took the world by storm.

Just as movement announces the Presence of the wind, supernatural occurrences assure us that God is near. Psalm 75:1 says ‘for that thy Name is near, thy wondrous works declare. Signs and wonders, are indications The Spirit has come. When He came in acts chapter 2, He brought eruptive movements, suddenly things began to happen. We need the wind of the Spirit to move our lives forward. Without His wind every life remains spiritually dormant and stagnant. It is only when He begins to move in our lives that signs and wonders begin to erupt.  It is therefore time to engage him for a forceful turnaround. Things must begin to work, our lives must go forward!   Let us therefore today take up the responsibility of maintaining a strong prayer life, as we do  signs and wonders will become the order of our day in Jesus Name. . .

PRAYER: Lord, I need the wind of your Spirit to begin to blow like never before in my life. I need to see your signs  and wonders manifest, I need the course of my life changed from mere drifting to supernatural progress  in Jesus Name. .

DAILY READING –  Luke 9:1-27; Genesis 15; Psalm 8

In her book, ‘By the Grace of God, A 9/11 Survivor’s Story of Love, Hope, and Healing,’ Jean Potter chronicles her amazing story of survival. Jean worked on the 81st floor of the first tower hit on the morning of 9/11. In an interview with the Christian broadcasting network [CBN] she recounts “All of a sudden, this massive explosion rocked the building, and we literally swayed from side to side, And what first came to me is, ‘This is not your time.” 

Jean believes it was the voice of God — loud and clear — a message in the midst of chaos. She said she was thinking, ‘Is this building going to fall?’ And she was  up 81 flights. She wondered how she was going to get out of there.

Jean made it to the staircase as the floor became engulfed in flames.

She said “My heart was palpitating a mile a minute as I was going down the staircase,” she recounted. Yet in the midst of the chaos Jean felt God reassuring her and prodding her to keep moving down the staircase.

Though debris and concrete pelted her, she said God’s mercy kept her alive, and “the big hit” never came. She did finally come down the stairs, and survived only by the grace of  God to tell the story.

When encountering terrible threats, David asked God for help. He wanted to be assured of God’s nearness as he faced enemies in battle. In a heartfelt petition David said, “Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go . . . . Do not be far from me, my God; come quickly, God, to help me” (Ps. 71:3, 12).

God is often nearer than we know. Sometimes in times of trouble, we need to have our eyes opened to see that the greater one is with us. Even when it looks dark and foreboding God is always near, He is an ever  present help in the time of need. 

It was a frightful scene that night as the Syrian army gathered around the city of  Dotham. By early morning when Elisha’ servant went out the whole city was compassed by armies, and they were there on one mission: to capture Elisha. Fear gripped the servant’s heart, panicking he ran back to report the situation to his master. But to his surprise, the prophet remained calm, ‘Alas Master what shall we do’ the servant cried, still in panic. Elisha simply said ‘they that be for us are greater than they that be for them’. But perhaps realizing that mere explanation could not convince the servant, he simply prayed ‘Lord open his eyes.’ God did open the eyes of the servant and what he saw was that the mountain around them was full of horses and chariots of fire, angels on the ready to defend and deliver.

Elisha’s confidence came from his intimate knowledge of God. He was not afraid because he knew the God he served. Perfect love casts out fear. In Psalm 91:14 God promises, ‘because he has set his love upon Me , I will deliver him’. When we set our love on God He is committed to our deliverance. We set our love on Him though fellowshipping with Him and getting to know Him personally. When you love someone you spend time with them getting to really know them. And it is the knowledge that comes from such intimacy that gives you confidence. He said in Jeremiah 29:13-14 ‘And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD:  and I will turn away your captivity’ when you find Him He turns your captivity, He brings deliverance to you. When the love of God has been shed abroad in our heart, there is no more room for fear. When the love of God dominates your heart, you will have the assurance of His deliverance at all times. Therefore be encouraged today to spend time in God’s Presence. Intimate fellowship with God, is the source of our faith. Spend time in studying The Word, worship and Prayer. 

It is in this place of intimacy that you hear God clearer and get to know Him better. From this place of intimacy faith is birthed in you to confront and overcome any challenge. Truly they that know their God shall be strong and do exploits.  And because you have set your love upon God, He will surely deliver you..

PRAYER: Lord, help me to know you intimately, to draw closer to you in fellowship, so as to experience your love that brings deliverance. As your love dominates my heart there shall be no more room for fear in Jesus Name. .

Isaiah 43:2. [NLT]

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.’

DAILY READING Luke 8:26-56; Genesis 13:1-14:24; Psalm 7

During the height of Hurricane Irma in 2017, someone posted a photo on Facebook of a lone palm tree in Gustavia, capital of the Caribbean island of St. Barts. This tree was being battered by rain and winds that blew through the Island at up to 185 miles per hour. Though it was swaying mightily, this palm tree still stood upright.

The photo drew comments immediately. Many of those watching the live stream of the hurricane cheered for this palm tree, which refused to be overcome by the storm. Soon a fan club was born, and the Palm tree now nicknamed Hector, became an internet sensation. As the hurricane continued, Hector braved the winds, even lasting longer than the livecam3 camera recording the storm. From the last images before the camera went down, one could still see Hector, bowed but unbeaten, still fighting as hurricane Irma raged.

In the wake of the Hurricane, the region was turned into a disaster zone.  Many houses were destoyed and even lives lost. But the remarkable thing was that Hector the palm tree survived, and was still standing upright, despite the devastation around it. Indeed palm trees are survivors, they are aerodynamic marvels.

Psalm 92:12 says ‘The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;’

God said we will flourish like a palm because He knows there’s resurrection power in us to  bring us up from any pit. In the storm, palm trees can bend, but they don’t break. The tree can be flattened against the ground, for up to 6 hours and even appear as if it has been destroyed. But once the storm is over, the palm tree bounces right back up.  

God has put a bounce in you, just like the palm tree. You may get knocked down, but not knocked out. You may be bent over, but it’s not over. The enemy doesn’t have the final say over your life, only Jehovah does. And He says in Isaiah 43:2 ‘When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.’ 

You may go through a season of trouble but it’s only temporary. No matter the situation,  you are bouncing right back up again. If The Spirit that raised Christ up from the dead dwells in you, surely He can raise you up from any pit. And the comeback is always better.

Scientists have found that when the storm is over, the palm tree comes back better and stronger than it was before. Being a person of faith doesn’t mean you will never have any trouble, but the beautiful thing is that each battle only makes us stronger.

Prov. 24:16 says the righteous man falls seven times and yet rises again. That means you are indefatigable . You are built to last. So no matter what you are facing now, get up! You’re not broken! The stronger one lives in you, and because He lives, you shall live also. Never mind what may be happening around you. Never mind who may have disappointed you or turned their backs against you. People may leave, but as long as God doesn’t leave, it is alright. Look back and remember the past goodness of God in your life. What He did before, He is able to do again. Praise Him for all His faithfulness. Appreciate Him that despite the storm, He has preserved you. You know that what you passed through could have killed you, yet you survived. And if you are alive, it means that God isn’t done with you yet. He that has begun this good work in you, will surely bring it to completion.  Just keep your root grounded in the Word of God, and continue to praise God in every situation. Your victory is on the way. Surely they that put their trust in God shall never be ashamed.

 PRAYER: Lord, I Thank You for helping me to stand despite the fierce winds of opposition. By Your grace I will only keep growing stronger and rising higher. Surely through Christ I am more than a conqueror in every battle of life in Jesus Name.

DAILY READING    – Luke 8:1-25; Genesis 12; Psalm 6

In the 1960’s, the 4^th richest man in the world was Howard Hughes. He was a billionaire who seemed to have it all.  One of his habits was a penchant for living in luxury hotels. On some occasions, just because he did not want to check out of his hotel  room, he would buy up the entire hotel and continue his stay. One night in 1966, he arrived in Las Vegas and his aides checked him into a penthouse in the dessert inn hotel. However after staying a while, he decided he didn’t want to check out of the hotel and so he bought the entire hotel, and then converted the entire 8th floor into his offices and the 9th floor became his home.

Another of his habits was late night movies. A chronic insomniac, he watched  movies on television all night long. But when Hughes first arrived in Las Vegas he discovered he couldn’t indulge in this whim, because Las Vegas had no all-night TV stations at that time. So he bought KLAS Channel 8 television station, in 1967 for $3.6 million and got them to begin operating all night long so that he could indulge his habit of watching late night movies.

Howard lavishly fed his indulgences. Anything he wanted he simply bought it up, because he was rich enough to pay for it. Yet, despite all the money he spent to find happiness, he still died a recluse and a very lonely man. One of his very close aides told the Las Vegas Newspaper in 2004, that though outwardly Howard was financially wealthy, in truth, ‘he was the poorest man in the world, because he was so unhappy.”

We need to understand the purpose of money, because once purpose is not known abuse is inevitable. Lack of purpose is what leads people to waste money on frivolous things that do not amount to much in the grand scheme of life. For a believer, the purpose of money is a means to accomplish God’s mission on earth.

Zechariah 1;17 says ‘Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad;.’

Prosperity or provision is needed to accomplish the vision God places in the hearts of His servants.  And sowing to God’s Kingdom should be our priority rather than fleshy indulgence. Salvation of men is meant to be a burning issue in our hearts.  Where your treasure is there will your heart be also. When your heart is set on God, your treasure will be spent on God’s purpose. .And you can’t be truly sold out to God and not stand out on earth. When your heart is rightly positioned on God, it will direct your giving. David gave abundantly to the building of God’s temple, because his heart was set on God. And if truly our priority is God’s kingdom, then we should sow towards the saving of the souls Jesus died for.

As Christians, we are to set our hearts on what truly matters, and not on the frivolous things of the earth. Matthew 6:19–21 says, “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not beak through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”.

Possessions on earth are not for accumulating, but for distributing in ways that Christ is honored. There is nothing wrong with people possessing riches. The wrong comes when riches possess people. We must therefore strive to live for God and not for gold.

God wants us to have the joyful pursuit of Him and His kingdom as our treasure. A life of spending frivolously and indulging your fleshly desires will not make you happy. Rather a  life lived with a passion to advance God’s  kingdom through giving, will have you fulfilled and full of joy. The giving life is the winning life. The giving grace enlarges the covenant coast of a man. Indeed nothing turns financial captivity like sacrifice. According to Psalm 126, they that sow in tears, reap in  joy.  When it is a tearful seed, it will bring you a cheerful harvest. Truly, there are no crown wearers in Heaven that were not cross bearers on earth.  let us therefore learn to sow to the spirit and not to the flesh. Sow to your heavenly account. Give to the work of God through ministries and outreaches, and you will be forever blessed. 

PRAYER: Lord, Please help me to set my priorities right, by seeking first the promotion of Your kingdom. Please enable me to seek the laying up of  Heavenly treasures above  indulgence in earthly pleasures in Jesus Name.

• DAILY READING –  Luke 7:18-50; Genesis 11; Psalm 5

In 2014, many global news outlets reported the astounding news, that scientists had discovered what seemed like an invisible force field protecting the earth. A team led by Dan Baker at the University of Colorado and colleagues at MIT and NASA  discovered this mysterious barrier. This occurred while they were carrying out a study to improve the safety level of astronauts and equipment sent to space.

This study became necessary because, astronauts are often threatened by the presence of highly radioactive electrons located in Earth’s upper atmospheric region. These electrons are quite dangerous and tend to fry everything that comes across them, from spacecraft to satellites in orbit. These killer electrons’ that whip around the earth, if they hit the planet, could knock out power grids and radically change the planet’s climate and drive up rates of cancer. So NASA began to carry out a study to find a solution to these killer electrons. But to their amazement they found that these electrons, which are attracted by the Earth’s magnetic field, could not approach the planet closer than 7,200 miles. They seemed to stop at that distance and went no further. In 2012 NASA launched twin satellites called the Van Allen probes to investigate why. Through their investigation NASA discovered that there was a shield, never noticed before, protecting the earth from harmful electrons. This mysterious barrier, like a glass wall around the earth, shields these ‘killer electrons’ from bombarding the earth. Sciences are baffled as to the origin of this shield and how it works. And they are still carrying out studies to understand more about it.

Spiritually also, there is a mysterious shield that protects every believer from the ‘killer electrons’ of the wicked. This is the shield of the precious blood of Jesus.

Psalm 91 lets us know that there are arrows of the wicked that fly by day and night.

However according to Exodus 12:13, God has promised us protection through the blood. He says  ‘And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.’

Through the blood applied to the doorposts, God made a distinction between the Egyptians and the Israelites. While the Egyptians were getting hit by the plagues, God kept His people safe. In the same way, today, God will make a distinction between you and the wicked. While the wicked face the judgement, you and your family will be protected from harm in Jesus Name. When we plead the blood of Jesus, the destroyer cannot come near us. When he sees the blood, he must respect the blood and pass over. He cannot touch that which is covered by the blood.

Psalm 91:1-2 says ‘He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust.’  Under the shadow of The Almighty, is a place where we are shielded and protected by the  blood of Jesus.

And Romans 8:31-32 says ‘If God is for us, who is against us?’

Today if you are facing a battle greater than you, confront it with the Blood of Jesus. Whenever you don’t know what to pray, plead the blood of Jesus.  Truly there is no weapon that is formed against us that will prosper, By the blood you have victory over every sickness, disease and evil arrows. It doesn’t matter what may be coming against you, abide secured in Christ’s blood, because your victory is assured. With  God on your side, you have the majority and the victory is yours in every battle in Jesus Name.

As we pursue God’s will for our lives, there are spiritual storms that may come our way. But the power of the Blood of Christ is sufficient to cover and protect us. We overcome by His Blood.

PRAYER: Lord, Today I invoke the blood of Jesus against everything fighting my destiny. Indeed by the mystery of the blood I am shielded and protected from every arrow of the wicked in Jesus Name.

2 Corinthians 2:14

‘Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place’

DAILY READING Luke 7:1-17; Genesis 8-10; Psalm 4

In 1948, during Israel’s war for independence, one of the most dramatic episodes took place when a small unit of Israeli soldiers miraculously scattered thousands of  Arab soldiers.

In July 1948, a small number of Israeli soldiers went to liberate the airport at Lydda. Lydda incidentally is the site of Peter healing the paralytic Aenaes, and about nine miles east of Joppa. To their dismay, this small unit of Israeli soldiers found themselves  grossly outnumbered, by seven thousand Arab troops ready to attack. They were outnumbered by more than 400 to one. To liberate the airport,  the Jews then decided to employ the tactics of Gideon.  Sixteen Israelis dressed as Arabs infiltrated into the city of Lydda.  Similar to Gideon’s band of 300, these sixteen soldiers made so much noise and commotion during the night that the totally confused Arabs started firing upon each other. Finally the majority of the Arabs fled back across the border filled with inexplicable fear. The Israeli soldiers therefore took over the region. There is no human explanation how sixteen Israeli soldiers could make so much noise that 7,000 Arab fighters would flee. It is obvious that God helped them to triumph.

Likewise, as believers, in every battle, God always causes us to triumph.

2 Corinthians 2:14 says ‘Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place’

“Always” means that our victory in every battle is guaranteed in all ways and in every place. Battles are real to life., whether you like it or not, whether you are conscious of it or not.  However, the believer, does not have any cause to worry, because our victory is assured.  That you have battles while serving God, does not mean that you have missed God, it only means you are on the path of destiny, because battles are a part of our existence. The heaven that we are going to, is the home of overcomers. The identity of everyone that will make heaven is, “He that overcometh.” And the Bible says that, “Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world.”

To  “overcome” shows that there are obstacles to cross over. Just as in the hurdle race, each hurdle the runner jumps over takes him closer to victory., likewise, every  challenge we overcome brings us closer to our promotion. So it doesn’t matter what may seem to be coming against you now, rejoice because victory is assured. Perhaps you have been fighting battles over your health, finances, or relationships; know that you are coming out victorious. Whosoever gathers against you shall surely fall for your sake.

Isaiah 54:15-17 says ‘Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.’

Truly, every spiritual gang up against you is bound to fail. Martin Luther King Jr said, “You cannot keep birds from flying over your head but you can keep them from building nest in your hair”. Invariably, you  may not stop the forces of wickedness from ganging up against you, but you can be assured that God will scatter them.  The reason your enemies will be scattered is because, indirectly they’re gathering to fight against God.  God has already said that whosoever touches you, touches the apple of His eyes. So according to Psalm 68:1, as they gather and God arises, what  happens? All His enemies will be scattered.

So whatever may be fighting against you today, give thanks to God for causing you to triumph always. Indeed your victory is assured by the blood of Jesus over every enemy in Jesus Name.

PRAYER:  Lord thank You for the victory You have given me through Christ Jesus Please help me to build my life upon the solid foundation of Your Word and prayer, so that through faith in You I will always overcome at all times in Jesus name.

Isaiah 43:18-19

‘Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know’

During World war II, Adolf Hitler set up some prisons as death camps for the extermination of the Jews. A camp at Sobibor, in Poland,  was one of these. The German Commandant in charge of this camp had vowed that no prisoner could ever escape from it.

As trains full of Jews arrived at  the camp, the skilled workers among them, such as goldsmiths, seamstresses, shoemakers, and tailors, were asked to step aside, while the rest were sent to the gas chambers where they were killed and cremated. The pillar of smoke from these chambers rose day and night. These skilled prisoners who were kept alive were charged with sorting the belongings taken from those who had been murdered and then repairing the shoes, recycling the clothing, and melting down any silver or gold to make jewelry for the German officers. However these surviving Jews soon realized that once they outlived their usefulness, they too would be executed. So the prisoners began to work on a plan of escape. During this time, a new group of prisoners were brought to the camp, these were Russian Jews who had been soldiers with the Soviet army. Hearing of the escape plan they immediately joined the revolt, and their military skills proved invaluable.

On 14 October 1943, the escape plan went into action. The prisoners revolted and began to flee the camp. Most of the 600 prisoners stampeded for the perimeter fences, while some of the Jews using captured rifles began to shoot their way through the Ukrainian guards. Though the guards opened fire with heavy machine guns from observation towers, still over 300 Jews reached the forest and escaped.

The uprising became the largest escape from a prison camp of any kind in Europe during World War II.  The German commandant who has earlier vowed that no prisoner could escape from Sobibor was totally embarrassed. As a result of this escape, Sobibor was closed. Its structures were bulldozed to the ground, and trees were planted on the site to remove any sign of its existence.

Psalm 124:7 says ‘Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.’

It doesn’t matter how the enemy has sworn never to let you go, or where he may have tried to lock up your destiny, you have to know that with God, you have what it takes to overcome.

1 Corinthians 10:13 says that with every temptation God has made a way of escape. Indeed you can escape every prison  of sickness, poverty, disfavor, relationship jinx etc.  You can go further than what the experts have said.. You’re a barrier breaker. By the grace of God upon your life, you can defy any odds. You can do what they said can never be done.

Mark 10:27 says ‘for with God all things are possible” Through faith in God, we escape the realm of limitations. In Genesis 13:14-15 God told Abraham that as far as his eyes could see would be given to him. Likewise today also, as far as our eyes can see in God’s Word will be given unto us.  Today is your day to take the limits off. It’s time to shake off the past; it’s time to shake off burdens; it’s time to Break Out!

In Isaiah 43:18-19 God says ‘Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know’

God is indeed doing a new thing with us. September is the ninth month. And the ninth month signifies delivery, when the baby leaves the confines of the womb and breaks out into a new world. It is therefore your month of new realms and new heights.

Truly, God will take you further than you ever imagined. He will use you to set a new standard and turn you into a reference point. Don’t limit your options by what you see right now. Don’t decide it can’t happen because of what looks like prison walls around you now. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Do not limit what God can do! Remember He’s the God who parts our Red Seas! He’s the God who caused an earthquake and brought Paul and Silas out of prison! He’s the God of the impossible. Therefore, let us continually praise Him, knowing that by His help, truly we can do all things.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for breaking every barrier and limitation in my life. Truly by Your grace I am moving from glory to glory in Jesus Name

Isaiah 55:12-13

For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace, the mountains and hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorns shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the briar, shall come up the myrtle tree.’

It is said, man has created more information in the last decade, than in all of past human history. We are living in an age of Information overload. Daniel rightly predicted that at the time of the end, knowledge shall be increased. [Daniel 12:4]. That is what we are seeing now. Our minds are constantly under the barrage of news and information. And unfortunately, men seem to have become addicted to the hyper stimulation of this information super highway. Many people simply cannot do without information constantly coming from their phones, ipads, computers etc. Indeed, this is the most distracted generation ever.

In this information bombardment, it has become increasingly difficult for people to find time to be quiet, to think, and to pray. Man seems constantly on the run. Early each morning, as the alarm clock goes off like a whistle, the race begins. There seems to be so much to do daily; a job to get to, appointments to keep, places to go, datelines to meet etc. Again Daniel had predicted that at the time of the end, many shall run to and fro. And today, people are in an unending race, racing from one thing to another. No wonder we are called the ‘’human race.”

Yet the Bible in Romans 9:16 says ‘it is not of him that willeth or of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.’ It is the grace of God that makes the race great. All of man’s race, if it lacks grace, will end in disgrace. Indeed without Jesus we can do nothing. We must therefore  set our priorities right.

As Christians, in this end-time God must have the first place in our lives. He must have the first place in everything. Time spent with Him each day in fellowship must be top priority. It is none negotiable. No matter how busy we are, we cannot compromise our quiet time. It is a total necessity. We must break out of the vicious circuit of the ‘human race’ and daily ensure we maintain God’s Presence.

Galilee in Hebrew means ‘circuit’. Joseph and Mary had to get out of Galilee, break out of the ‘circuit’ and get into Judea [meaning Praise] before she could give birth to the savior. To birth God’s divine plan for our lives, we must break out of the circuit and come into the place of worship. It is in this place of intimacy that we receive from Heaven. We cannot allow the distractions of this age, to keep us from God’s Presence. God is the source of all our victories. When we bow in God’s Presence, men will bow to us.  Job  29 :19 – 21 speaks of how the dew lay all night upon his branch, and  his glory was fresh in him, and as a result men gave ear to him and  kept quiet at his counsel. As you fellowship with God, His Glory rubs off on you. And like Moses when you come out of the place of fellowship, your face will be shinning. It is a light which darkness cannot comprehend, which demons see and flee. Evil people see you coming and they take another route. Because they cannot face the fire emitting from you. Also as a result of  carrying  God’s Presence your environment changes to favor you. Isaiah 55:12-13 declares  ‘for ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace, the mountains and hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. This signifies a divine change of story. His Presence will always make a  difference. Why environments resist men’s advance is because of lack of God’s presence. Psalm 114 speaking of when Israel left Egypt, and God’s Presence was their sanctuary, said ‘ the sea saw it and fled, Jordan was driven back , the mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.’ The sea, river, mountains and hills, which  represented resistance  and hindrances on their way, all fled at God’s Presence.  Isaiah 64:1 says the mountains flow down at God’s Presence. Indeed His Presence makes the difference. This is why we must not disconnect from  fellowship with God. Let us therefore avoid the distractions of this age. This world and everything in it is fast passing away. Let us not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. Let us invest time in fellowship with God. Let us feed on His Word. That is what will matter at the end of the age. For the grasses will wither and the flowers will fade, but The Word of our God shall stand  forever.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to make You top priority in my life. May I always spend time in fellowship with You so as to carry Your Presence that will make the difference in my life, in Jesus Name. .

Luke 6:48 

He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock .

You can’t build a great building on a weak foundation. You must have a solid foundation if you’re going to have a strong superstructure.

In 2010, Haiti was one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, with sixty per cent of its ten million citizens living in poverty. This situation, led to people building anyhow, with whatever material they could afford. Moreover, the country had no national building code, so most buildings were not built to engineering standards. Structures were built on slopes without proper foundations or containment structures, using improper building practices, and insufficient steel.

This situation of things caused a devastating damage to the nation when the magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti in 2010. The earthquake caused major damage in Port-au-Prince, and other cities in the region. The poorly constructed buildings were hopelessly fragile in the grip of such a strong quake. Notable landmark buildings that were damaged or destroyed, included the Presidential Palace, the National Assembly building, the Port-au-Prince Cathedral, and the main jail. And more unfortunately, so many lives were lost when many of these houses  built on weak foundations toppled in the earthquake.

In Mathew 7: 24 Jesus says ‘Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;  and it fell not:  for it was founded upon a rock.’

The stream, rain, wind, in the parable of Jesus represents the storms of life. Life is full of such storms. Troubles and challenges will often come unexpectedly to test our foundations.  A man will stand or fall based on his depth in The Word of God.

Today marks the beginning of the 9th month of the year. It is a month of expectations, when the year delivers to us what has been held up in its womb. But for us to take full delivery of our expectations we must have first laid a strong foundation of faith.  It will take strong faith in God to take our portion. Faith is built through hearing The Word of God.

We must build a foundation of spiritual strength through studying The Word of God, so as to resist and overcome challenges and evil attacks. that contest our potion.  To be victorious over every challenge, our faith must be strong. It takes a lion heart to have a lion share. Therefore as we begin this new month we must resolve to spend enough time in God’s Word and in prayers so as to build the kind of spiritual foundation that will enable us stand strong, no matter what comes our way. Yes, the rain, wind, storm may seem to be blowing against you right now, but never forget you have what it takes to stand strong. Fill your heart with  God’s Word. Indeed through Christ you have the victory. And truly the victory that overcomes the world is our faith.

PRAYER:  Lord, please help me to build my life upon the solid foundation of Your Word, so that no matter what comes my way, I will never fall in Jesus Name. .
