Count Nikolaus von Zinzendorf, was born into a royal family, yet he refused to pursue worldly privileges but dedicated his life to advancing the Gospel across nations.
On February 14, 1743, while returning from the West Indies with fellow missionaries, his ship approached the southern coast of England under dangerous conditions. A violent storm had arisen, and powerful winds drove the vessel toward sharp coastal rocks. Panic spread among passengers as the situation worsened.
The ship’s captain, informed Zinzendorf that destruction seemed inevitable. But Zinzendorf remained calm and with quiet confidence, he declared that within two hours, the storm would cease.
True to his words, the storm suddenly subsided within two hours. Astonished, the captain asked how he knew the storm would stop. Zinzendorf simply replied that his confidence came from his relationship with Jesus, who had assured him in prayer the storm would cease within two hours.
That moment became a powerful testimony, leading the captain to faith in Christ.
Daniel 11:32 reveals that those who truly know their God will be strong and accomplish great exploits. This strength comes from a deep, personal relationship with God, cultivated through His Word and fellowship with Him.
In life, storms are inevitable. Challenges, uncertainties, and pressures will arise. However, victory is not determined by what happens around us, but by what is established within us. When our focus remains on Jesus and His Word, we receive the faith and confidence needed to stand firm.
Peter walked on water as long as his focus was on Jesus, but the moment he shifted his attention to the storm, he began to sink (Matthew 14:30). This illustrates a vital truth—focus determines outcome.
God’s Word anchors our hearts and stabilizes our minds. As we continually meditate on it, our faith grows, and we become less moved by circumstances. The Holy Spirit then guides us, helping us navigate every situation with wisdom and confidence.
Therefore, today let us keep our eyes on Jesus and let His Word dominate our thoughts. As we do, no matter how intense the storm may be, we will remain strong, rise above challenges, and walk in victory and exploits.
PRAYER
Lord, please help me to keep my focus on You at all times, regardless of what I face. Please strengthen my faith and grant me the grace to walk boldly, do exploits, and remain steadfast in every situation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
