The book ‘Saved by Angels’ contains the amazing story of Bruce Van Natta.
On November 16, 2006, Bruce, a self-employed mechanic, went to work on a customer’s truck. After completing the job, he was about to go home when the customer asked him to check an oil leak from the engine. As Bruce went beneath the truck, suddenly the jack holding up the truck fell out, and the 10,000-pound weight of the truck came down on Bruce’s chest, crushing him. The front axle which fell on his stomach was like a blunt guillotine, that nearly cut his body into two. As Bruce felt himself dying, he cried out, ‘Lord, help me.’
At that point, he became unconscious, and his spirit left his body and floated up towards the ceiling. Bruce found himself looking down at the accident scene from above and saw two huge angels by the side of his body. In that moment, Bruce realized God had sent His angels to help him.
After that, he felt his spirit return to his body, and he became conscious. When rushed to the hospital, doctors, on seeing his condition, doubted he would even survive the next few hours. But as friends and family prayed, God miraculously restored his health after two months in the hospital. Doctors testified that Bruce was the only person in the world that ever had five major arteries severed and yet survived. Today, Bruce Van Natta is a preacher of the Gospel and the founder of sweet bread ministries located in Wisconsin.
Just as God sent angels to help Bruce, believers are never alone in the midst of trouble. When you go through complex challenges in life, it may sometimes seem as if you are walking alone. But the truth is that God is always there. Psalm 23:4 says, ‘Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.’
Whatever we may pass through, God never leaves us nor forsakes us. God will always send us help out of Zion; He is an ever-present help in the time of trouble.
God said in Isaiah 43:2, “When you go through the waters, I will be with you; when you go through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you; when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned.”.
God may not keep us out of every fire or flood, but He promises to be right there to pull us through. Even in the midst of what seems like a chaotic situation, God works behind the scenes, orchestrating miracles.
And because we know He is with us, we can have joy in the midst of adversity and be at peace in the storm. Even when obstacles seem too much, it is never too much for our God. God is our refuge, our strong tower, our deliverer, and our fortress.
As we seek greater intimacy with Him in this season, surely, God will turn up as the fourth man to deliver us from every fiery furnace and turn every test into a testimony for us.
PRAYER; Father, I thank You for being my ever present help in every time of need. I receive the grace to praise continually because l know that through Christ I am destined to triumph always in Jesus Name.
