Job 22:23 -25 “If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles. Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.”

For 3,000 years, there have been numerous efforts made to locate King Solomon’s mines. The world has been fascinated by the Biblical account of King Solomon’s overwhelming wealth and the spectacular temples he adorned in glittering gold. Even his drinking cups were made of gold. A Bible verse that greatly fired the imagination of gold seekers is 1 Kings 9:28 which said Solomon’s servants, went to Ophir and fetched from thence gold, 420 talents’ ( meaning roughly 20 tons of gold).
The prospect of boundless gold booty to be found in the land of Ophir inspired one of the most amazing treasure hunts in history. Ambitious men set sail into vast and dangerous oceans looking for the land of Ophir. Various calculations of the location of Ophir were given by astronomers and geographers. These locations varied from Pakistan, to Malaysia, Indonesia, to the Shona lands of Zimbabwe in Africa etc.
In 1885, Henry Rider Haggard’s best-selling book ‘King Solomon’s Mines’ further fueled the imagination of treasure hunters.
Yet despite the desperate search, over the centuries, King Solomon’s mine has remained as elusive as ever. In 2010, Archeologists believed they had discovered the lost mines in the desert, south of the Dead Sea, in modern-day Jordan. Unfortunately no gold was found in it, rather what they found was copper. But that has not deterred treasure hunters from believing that they will one day still find King Solomon’s treasure trove of gold.

Interestingly, the way to find the gold of Ophir is clearly stated in Job 22:23-25 which says
“If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles. Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.” Returning to God, is the way to find the gold of Ophir, which represents wealth and abundance of blessings.
The decision to return to God by living righteously and obeying His commandments guarantees His blessings. Job became the greatest man in the East because he was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil(Job 1: 1-3). According to Psalm 112:1-3, wealth and riches are found in the house of the man that fears the LORD, and delights greatly in his commandments.
Therefore, our quest for success and true riches should start with the decision to live for God. True prosperity comes as a function of divine enablement and grace; which causes us to excel in life’s race. It is the blessings of God that makes rich and adds no sorrow to it. Any quest for riches outside of God will have sorrows added to it. Therefore searching for a shortcut or secret path that leads to wealth is a futile exercise because except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it. Seeking God and His kingdom first is the true path to wealth and success in life. To see breakthroughs and truly break forth on every side, we must commit ourselves to passionately seeking more of God in our lives.
As our souls prosper spiritually through the knowledge of God, it will eventually manifest in divine blessings and overflowing abundance in our lives. Indeed those who seek God meet gold, but those who seek gold miss God.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to make seeking You my greatest priority in life. Please, grant me the grace to always seek first Your kingdom and righteousness, so that every other thing can be added unto me in Jesus Name..
