I Corinthians 9:16; “For though I preach the gospel I have nothing to glory, for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”’
DAILY READING; • • 1 Corinthians 8; 1 Kings 22; Amos 6
The year was 1930, and it was the year of the Naval Conference in London. King George was to address the opening session. Radio was in its infancy, but through this media the king’s message was to be carried around the world. Just before the king was to go on the air, Walter Vivian, a young engineer of the Columbia Broadcasting Company, discovered a broken wire in the transmitter. This was tragic! There was no time for repairs, and the world was waiting to hear the message of the king. The young engineer discovered what to do: He took a piece of broken wire in one hand, and a piece of broken wire in the other hand, and for fifteen minutes Walter Vivian took two hundred and fifty volts of electricity through his body that the king’s message might go through.
If that young engineer was willing to risk so much to ensure a human king’s message was transmitted, how much more willing ought we to be in transmitting the message of our divine king to a dying world.
As God’s people, we must become willing to sacrifice and do whatever is necessary to urgently transmit the message of our king to the world.
Let’s focus on what matters most in this end times, which is soul winning. Eternity is counting. Time is fast running out on earth. So let us do all we can to reach as many souls as possible, with the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
It can be easy for us to become satisfied merely with our own salvation and membership in the church, while neglecting the dying world outside the church walls. But the many truths we take for granted is what many people are dying for lack of. How can we then be content to hoard the truth, while many die in ignorance.
The urgency to preach the gospel must fill us with holy zeal and a sense of urgency.
Apostle Paul said in I Corinthians 9:16, “For though I preach the gospel I have nothing to glory, for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”
Indeed necessity is laid upon us to proclaim liberty to the captives. It is a burden we each should take personally and channel our time, energy and resources towards its pursuit.
We can’t afford to continue to keep quiet.
Today, let us receive the grace to preach the word in season and out of season and proclaim our Kings message of redemption wherever we go.
PRAYER: Lord, I am available to be used to transmit Your message of redemption to my generation. I thank You for the grace to proclaim the good news of the Gospel wherever I go in Jesus Name,
