2 Corinthians 9:8 ‘And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work…’
DAILY READING; • Mark 12:28-44; 1 Kings 4-5; Hosea 7:3-16
The great missionary to China, Hudson Taylor was born to a father who was a local Methodist preacher. Before his birth, his parents had specifically prayed that he would grow up to become a missionary to China someday.
Even as a child, the call to China was so apparent that at only age 4, Hudson one day said “When I am a man I mean to be a missionary and go to China.”
At age 15, he began working at their local bank as a junior clerk. Hudson soon made worldly friends and lost interest in things of God.
But the call of God upon his life remained strong and he had no peace until he had fully surrender his life to Christ.
On December 2, 1849 while waiting upon the Lord, Hudson received a clear call that it was time to go to serve in China. But he did not have the money or wherewithal to embark on this assignment, so he trusted God to open up doors for him.
He started to do the little he could in preparation, by distributing tracts, studying the Chinese language, holding Gospel meetings and visiting poor families.
One day, he was visiting a poor home with evidently starving children. But after he had prayed for them he felt God wanted him to do more. So he gave the family all the money he had, even down to his last coin. He went home happy in heart even though he did not know how the next money would come. To his surprise, the next day the postman brought a letter with money that was about 400% of what he had given. Hudson experienced several such instances where money he sowed returned back to him in multiplied forms. He also began to experience amazing open doors.
In 1852, the Chinese Evangelization Society, arranged to pay for his training as a doctor at a London Hospital, in preparation for his going to China.
Miraculously God provided the funds he needed for his missionary trip.
When he finally arrived in China, Hudson continued to rely on God for protection, provision and everything else.
And indeed God helped him marvelously. Hudson Taylor would go on to do mighty exploits in China. He founded the China Inland Mission which was responsible for bringing over 800 missionaries to China and began 125 schools, which resulted in the conversion of thousands of Chinese people.
The fact that God has called you to an assignment, does not mean it will be automatically fulfilled.
There are steps we must take to succeed and accomplish our call. Our best preparation for success in life and ministry is learning to become totally dependent upon God.
We will succeed based on our dedication and commitment to doing God’s will, even when it is not convenient.
There are times, God will require us to sow seeds of finances, love, kindness etc into the lives of others,
These seeds are what will open up doors of favor and blessings that guarantees us speedy progress. Whatever we sow, we will surely end up receiving in multiplied form.
When you focus on constant obedience to God, you will never be stranded in life. When you are lost in His will, He will be committed to your welfare. He will give you the grace both to start and finish what He has called you to do. Jesus is called the author and the finisher of our faith. This means that what He begins in us, He is also able to accomplish.
Though we may sometime be confronted by difficulties, we can always count on God’s sufficient grace to carry us through.
2 Corinthians 12:9, says “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness…”
The word “sufficient” means adequate for every scenario.
This means that there’s no situation in our lives that grace cannot handle. God is able to make all grace abound towards you, so that you can have all sufficiency in all things.
As we step out into this new month, it is important to make obeying God our topmost priority. As we seek first His kingdom, surely, every other thing will fall into place in our lives.
PRAYER; Lord please help me to be obedient to Your Word and follow Your every instructions. As I fervently seek You, I thank You for Your divine help and mighty manifestations of miracles in my life in Jesus Name.
