Deuteronomy 5:33 “Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.”
DAILY READING; Matthew 13:1-23; Leviticus 17-18; Proverbs 28.
On September 12, 2021, a miracle occurred in Israel when a four story apartment building in a Tel Aviv suburb, collapsed a day after its residents were evacuated.
The situation came very close to becoming a mass-casualty disaster resembling the collapse of the high-rise residential building in Florida, in June 2021, which killed 98 people.
But the residents of this Israeli building were saved due to their prompt obedience to the instructions to evacuate.
On September 11, residents reported cracks on the walls of the building and inability to open the front doors of their apartments. After engineers were called in and the situation was assessed, a decision to immediately evacuate the building was reached. Police officers closed off the street, knocked hard on every door and took the residents out of the building. Most of the residents were not ready for an immediate evacuation and it was very inconveniencing for them. It was a chaotic scene as 36 families were moved out with people in their pajamas, babies crying and bags being packed in a hurry.
However, hours after the evacuation, by the next day, the building suddenly collapsed on its own. There were no casualties because no one was inside. The residents became very thankful to God because their lives had been saved through prompt obedience to the instruction to evacuate even when it was not convenient.
Doing the right thing may not always seem convenient, but it can save our lives.
Whatever God says to us we must promptly obey for our own benefit. Sometimes God may instruct us to ‘evacuate’ from certain relationships, environments or activities. Though we may not find it convenient at the moment, yet we have to obey in faith trusting that God knows what is best.
The truth is that it is not everything God tells us to do that is easy or convenient. But we do not serve God as convenient, we serve as commanded.
Obedience may be costly, but the rewards are priceless.
Sometimes we can sense the Holy Spirit tugging us to go in certain directions; He may be prompting us to study the Word more, spend more time in prayer, spend time in fasting, spend time in God’s Presence, yet it may not always seem convenient due to our tight schedule.
But we can never be too busy to obey God..Some of those urgent divine instructions could actually be aimed at saving our lives. God alone knows the future and it pays to obey His leadings.
In the journey of life, the path of obedience to God is always the safest path to follow. Even if God’s instructions seem inconvenient, it is the highway out of every destruction. The truth is that you can never fall standing on God’s Word.
We must not promote convenience or comfort above doing the will of God because today’s enjoyment could lead to suffering tomorrow.
Prompt Obedience means doing anything God commands us to do regardless of our feelings.
Life becomes sweet when we become swift in obedience. That is the way to be delivered from temptations and every evil plan of the wicked.
Our lives flow in miracles, signs and wonders when we are intentional in obeying God’s instructions.
Oftentimes when we ask God for a miracle, He gives us instructions to obey. It is our prompt response to these instructions that will determine God’s response to us.
Delayed obedience could lead to delayed answers to prayer because God cannot bless you beyond your last act of obedience; when you stop obeying, His blessings stop flowing.
Therefore today, let us commit ourselves to prompt obedience to God’s Word. Let us walk in all the ways He commands us so that we may live, and that it may be well with us [Deuteronomy 5:33]
PRAYER: lord, I thank You for granting me the grace to always walk in Obedience to Your every instruction. Thank You Lord, for enabling me to continuously meditate on Your Word so that I can have the faith to promptly obey You at all times in Jesus Name.
