And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
DAILY READING – Luke 6:1-26; Genesis 3-5; Psalm 2
During the California Gold Rush, mariners called the coastal region in the Pacific Northwest the Graveyard of the Pacific. This was because since 1800, treacherous and deceptive waters along this coast claimed more than 2,000 vessels and several lives. But in 1860 two light houses were built along these coasts, lighting the way for mariners to avoid dangers, guiding ships to safety, thereby saving many lives. Light houses are crucial in navigation to guide ships safely through troubled waters.
God’s love can be likened to a light house. In the dark, murky, and treacherous waters of the world, His love guides us through the darkness. When you have the right image of God’s love shinning in your heart, you will always find your way home. It was the right image of his father’s love that guided the prodigal son home from his foray. The Bible gave a defining moment in his life, when he came to himself. And that was when he remembered his father’s goodness. This right image of his father was the beacon that led him home.
You must have the right perception of God. He loves you with an everlasting love. Everlasting means time will not change His mind; seasons, circumstances, situations, will not change His mind concerning you. Our foundation must be rock solid on the understanding of God’s unshakable love. Love is not something God is trying to do, love is who He already is. God is love. If perhaps you have drifted from His presence, and are awash at sea, floating in troubled waters, headed in no direction, then let the love of God shine like light again through the darkness, as a beacon to lead you back home. The Father really loves you, His mercies are new every day, and His compassions fail not.
PRAYER: Lord, please help me to always have the right image of You in my heart; let Your light dispel every darkness that tries to hide Your love from me.

It is only when you can see God in the light of who He truly is that you can begin to walk in the overflow of His blessings.
