Gal. 6: 9

” And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.’

DAILY READING – 1 Corinthians 15:1-34; 2 Kings 10; Micah 1

God is most often at work when He appears to be  silent.

The story of the Chinese bamboo tree, illustrates that sometimes when nothing seems to be happening on the surface, a great deal is going on behind the scenes.

The Chinese bamboo tree is one of the most unique and amazing plants in the world. This tree is different from other trees in that it doesn’t grow in the typical fashion. Once planted, one must water, feed and nurture the seed every day.

This process continues for four long years, without the farmer seeing any sign of life on the surface of the ground. But then in the fifth year an amazing thing happens; The tree finally breaks the surface of the ground. Then in the space of five weeks this tree grows to an astounding height of 90 feet.

The interesting thing  is that, though for four years, nothing seemed to be happening, the seed had actually sprouted within days of being planted. And during the four years, it has been growing a very strong, deep and extensive root system, necessary to sustain its life. The farmer keeps watering and providing sunlight to it because he understands that something is happening beneath the surface. And because he doesn’t give up, eventually he reaps the fruit of his labor.
Galantians 6:9 says ‘And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.’

God’s growing season is much like the Chinese Bamboo Tree.  In our spiritual walk we must learn to patiently wait upon God. Indeed persistence pays off, especially in the place of prayer. In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus told his disciples a parable that shows if we don’t give up in prayer, we eventually get our answer.

Not getting an immediate response, shouldn’t discourage us from praying. We may not see the answer today, but that doesn’t mean the answer is not being worked on.

The key is persistence. Refuse to give up. The enemy knows that if you persist you will receive, this is why he tries to discourage and weary you to give up before your answer comes. But make up your mind that it doesn’t matter how long it takes, you will keep praying because you know God has promised you an answer and He keeps His promises.

And as you persist in prayer, it is only a matter of time before your answer comes. Indeed if you faint not, you will surely  reap.
PRAYER: Lord, please grant me the grace to patiently wait for the manifestations of  Your promises in my life. Please enable to persevere in the place of prayer, without ever giving up, until my answer comes in Jesus Name. .
